Real estate stocks attract cash flow, VN-Index increases by more than 20 points

Gia Miêu |

The stock market continued to have a positive trading session, helping the VN-Index approach the threshold of 1,800 points.

After the explosive trading session at the end of last week, investor sentiment was quite optimistic when entering the trading session of the new week. Right from the beginning of today's trading session (August 24), green color spread on the electronic board early, most industry groups traded positively.

Notably, active cash flow continues to circulate through industry groups. If in the last session of the week, the market witnessed a large wave in the securities stock group, then in today's session, real estate stocks have become the focus of the market.

Closing the trading session on August 24, VN-Index increased by 20.66 points (+1.17%), to 1,788.78 points. Market liquidity improved significantly with total trading volume reaching nearly 880.2 million units, worth 19,378 billion VND, up 13.2% in volume and 7.5% in value compared to the last session of last week. Block transactions contributed nearly 211.5 million units, worth 4,129.3 billion VND.

According to statistics from VNDirect Securities Company, VIC and VHM are the main drivers for the stock market to increase by 4.6% and 2.4% respectively, contributing 18 points to the increase of VN-Index. Other stocks in the real estate group raced to improve in the afternoon session.

Meanwhile, the securities stock group continued to differentiate with the bright spot being the pair VIX and SSI both increasing by more than 2% and having the most active liquidity in the industry, reaching 63.64 million units and 32.45 million units respectively; the rest mainly fluctuated up and down by around 1%. Notably, the "newcomer" of the industry, LPS, was heavily sold and closed the session down 6.9% to the floor price of 27,550 VND/share. The banking stock group only slightly increased.

In the top noteworthy stocks, PNJ is still the focus with a matched order volume of 1.14 million units and a ceiling buy order of more than 11.5 million units. This is PNJ's 3rd consecutive ceiling increase session and since the beginning of August, the market price of this stock has increased by more than 37.5%.

Securities companies forecast that VN-Index may increase to the 1,800 point zone this week, thanks to the boost from FTSE Russell adding 27 Vietnamese stocks to FTSE All-Cap.

Cash flow is returning to large-cap stocks, especially banks and securities, creating a better spillover effect across the market. The positive scenario is that VN-Index continues to maintain an upward trend and test the 1,800 point zone. However, the upward process is unlikely to take place in a straight line.

After a strong increase session, the index may experience some fluctuations due to short-term profit-taking pressure, especially when the market approaches the psychological resistance zone of 1,800 points and holidays are approaching.

If liquidity is maintained at a high level and cash flow continues to circulate between industry groups, adjustments in the coming week are likely to be only technical, thereby creating a price base for a new uptrend after the holidays.

Investors can increase their proportion, but should not chase after the entire increase in recent sessions. The appropriate strategy is to partially disburse into stocks that are accumulating well, not increasing too far from the price base; at the same time, allocate the remaining capital to buy in fluctuations or re-test support.

For the banking and securities groups, priority should be given to businesses with good fundamentals, profit growth, high stock liquidity and the ability to attract foreign capital. If the VN-Index maintains the 1.740-1.750 point range and liquidity does not decrease sharply, investors can maintain a higher-than-average stock ratio. When the index convincingly exceeds the 1.780-1.800 point range with positive liquidity, it can continue to increase the ratio.
