Prices are higher than last year.
In recent days, the soursop tea production facility of Ms. Hong Doan (Phung Hiep district, Hau Giang province) has increased the purchase of soursop to process and supply the year-end market.
If the average monthly sales are more than 300kg of tea, then to supply the Tet market, Ms. Doan's production facility increases to about 500kg/month, not to mention the quantity of goods ordered by customers.
"Currently, the facility is receiving orders from many companies and businesses to give gifts to employees during Tet. The weather this year is quite unfavorable, so the source of purchased goods is quite small, and the price is high. But thanks to the fact that the farmers are mainly familiar with us, our source of goods is basically guaranteed," said Ms. Doan.
In addition to directly distributing to stores, agents, and production facilities, Ms. Doan also registered to do business on e-commerce platforms. Along with that, the products are recognized as meeting OCOP standards, creating prestige and great customer potential, especially at the end of the year.
Similarly, fruit items such as mango and pineapple are also being hunted by Mr. Nguyen Van Be Nam (trader, Can Tho City) to make processed food to supply for Tet.
Mr. Nam said: "These past few days, I have been going around the provinces in the West to buy mangoes, grapefruits, pineapples... to bring back and sell to processing companies to make dried jams and tea bags. It's the end of the year, so many people buy at a price from farmers that is 5,000-10,000 VND/kg higher than last year."
Busy production for Tet season
Taking advantage of the rising prices of agricultural products, this year's Tet melon crop, Mr. Truong Tan Binh (Binh Thuy district, Can Tho city) also planted yellow watermelon to supply the market.
Mr. Binh plans to grow 3 hectares of watermelon, planting 2 batches 2 weeks apart to always have products to sell during Tet, also to avoid congestion.
"Stewed watermelon costs about 250,000 - 300,000 VND/pair. Although it's not Tet yet, I see that the market price of all fruits is increasing. On average, after deducting costs, the profit is about 15 million VND/acre. This year, the weather is unfavorable, the rain is prolonged, so the production cost is also high," said Mr. Binh.
