According to the company's public information, Ha Long Canned Food Joint Stock Company (Halong Canfoco) was established in 1957 in Hai Phong with the initial name "Ha Long Canned Fish Factory". In 1996, the company switched to a joint-stock company model, creating a premise and foundation for strong development stages and goals in the new era.
In 2001, the company officially listed on the Vietnam Stock Exchange with stock code CAN, being one of the pioneering units to list on the stock exchange. By 2010, the company expanded its production scale to meet the continuous export growth needs, with the establishment and commencement of a new factory in Da Nang city; continued to establish a branch in Dong Thap province in 2022 specializing in processing lotus seeds and agricultural products to serve the domestic and international markets.
Notably, in 2024, this enterprise received the "TOP 50 strong brands of ASEAN 2024" award. Halong Canfoco recorded positive business results in the first 9 months of 2025 with net profit reaching VND 11 billion, reversing the loss of VND 6 billion in the same period of 2024. Accumulated revenue in 9 months reached VND 471 billion, down 11% compared to the same period, completing 67% of the annual revenue plan but exceeding 10% of the set profit target.
According to the environmental permit issued by Hai Phong City People's Committee to Ha Long Canned Food Joint Stock Company in 2023, the factory in Hai Phong has a scale of 57,186.9 m2 specializing in producing food and seafood products with a total capacity of 4,440 tons/year, including: canned meat (1,179 tons/year); canned fish (71 tons/year); spring rolls (109 tons/year); sausages (2,202 tons/year); boxed lotus seeds (495 tons/year); boxed tubers and fruits (384 tons/year); excluding the production of agar jelly, fish liver oil, fish powder, gelatin, fish oil capsules to suit market demand.

The sausage production process also uses ingredients (snake meat, beef, chicken that has been washed, bones removed and freeze) - Cut - Mince (The grinding process will add spices depending on the type of sausage) - Fill with collagen - Sausage product - Disinfection/sterilization (using hot steam from a charcoal boiler) - Cooling - Packaging, packaging, and storage.
As Lao Dong reported, recently, the Investigation Police Agency for Crimes of Corruption, Economy, and Smuggling - Hai Phong City Police discovered a line of purchasing pork infected with African cholera and then smuggling it into the warehouse of a famous canned goods making unit in the city. The group of subjects collected more than 120 tons and put them in the warehouse of Ha Long Canned Goods Joint Stock Company, of which about 2 tons were produced into canned meat. This meat has all become depleted, watery, and smelly.
Functional agencies have arrested and prosecuted 9 defendants for violating food safety conditions. The case is being further investigated and clarified by Hai Phong City functional agencies.
