On August 3, Da Nang City Department of Health organized the program "Ngoc Linh Ginseng Day - Vietnam Ginseng", officially announcing the task of building a dossier to submit to competent authorities for consideration and recognition of the anniversary for this rare medicinal herb.
Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee Ho Quang Buu emphasized that Ngoc Linh ginseng is a rare and endemic medicinal herb of Vietnam, with great value in medicine, science, economy and culture. This is also one of the products with potential to reach international level.
According to the leaders of the City People's Committee, building Ngoc Linh Ginseng - Vietnam Ginseng Day is not simply choosing a commemorative day, but the core goal is to honor the value of the national medicinal herb. Raising community awareness about gene conservation, promoting scientific research, developing the medicinal herb industry and promoting brands to the world.
Today is not the official recognition ceremony of Ngoc Linh Ginseng - Vietnam Ginseng Day. The decision-making authority belongs to the Prime Minister. However, this is an important milestone, marking Da Nang City officially starting the process of building scientific, legal and practical dossiers to submit to competent authorities for consideration and approval," Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Quang Buu affirmed.

To realize the above goal, the City People's Committee has assigned the Department of Health to preside over and coordinate with departments, agencies, branches, research institutes, universities, associations and related businesses to prepare dossiers. After completion, the dossiers will be submitted to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for appraisal before reporting to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision.
Speaking to receive the assignment, Mr. Nguyen Tan Hai - Deputy Director of Da Nang City Department of Health - affirmed that this is an important political task. The city's health sector will focus on implementation with the highest sense of responsibility.
The Department of Health will closely coordinate with scientists, the Ngoc Linh Ginseng Association and the business community to collect sufficient scientific, legal, historical and practical grounds, ensuring that dossiers are of quality, objective and on schedule.
Within the framework of the program, delegates and experts presented many in-depth papers on the journey of discovering, researching and preserving Ngoc Linh ginseng; the role of Ngoc Linh ginseng in health care, traditional medicine as well as cultural life.
