According to the report of the National Steering Committee 389, in the first 6 months of 2025, functional forces nationwide inspected and handled 50,419 cases related to smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, down 21.45% over the same period.
Of which, there were 10,836 cases of trading and transporting prohibited and smuggled goods (up 79.34% over the same period); 36,313 cases of trade fraud and tax fraud (down 34.14% over the same period); 3,270 cases of counterfeit goods, intellectual property violations (up 8.64% over the same period); 1,899 cases were prosecuted (up 192.15% over the same period), 3,271 subjects (up 70.99% over the same period).
In particular, during the peak month from June 15 to 15, the authorities nationwide inspected and handled 10,437 cases. Of which, there were 1,936 cases of trading and transporting prohibited and smuggled goods; 6,870 cases of trade fraud and tax fraud; 1,631 cases of counterfeit goods, violations of intellectual property; 204 cases were prosecuted, 382 subjects were prosecuted.
According to the representative of the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee 389, it is expected that in the coming time, the production and trading of counterfeit goods and goods violating intellectual property rights as well as other commercial fraud will continue to have complicated developments, possibly increasing in quantity, scale and sophistication.
In the new situation, the methods and tricks of the subjects will be more sophisticated and methodical because the society has made much progress in e-commerce, trade in the digital age as well as the State's policies to facilitate the development of the private economy.
Faced with that situation, it is necessary to have the participation of authorities at all levels, enforcement forces, businesses, and consumers in a comprehensive, responsible, thorough and synchronous manner with solutions.
In Resolution 205/NQ-CP, the Government requires ministries, branches and localities, according to their functions and tasks, to have solutions to fight against and repel smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights; especially to "fight uncompromisingly" against the situation of fake drugs and fake food.
In particular, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is assigned to preside over and coordinate with agencies and localities to coordinate with localities to direct national market management forces to strengthen inspection, control, and strictly handle individuals and businesses trading in smuggled goods, production, and trading of counterfeit goods.
The Ministry of Public Security focuses on directing professional forces and local police to establish specialized projects, fight fiercely, strictly handle crimes, smuggling, trade fraud, production, trading of counterfeit goods, intellectual property infringement, etc.;
Timely publicize the results on mass media for general deterrence and prevention; coordinate with prosecution agencies to speed up the progress of investigation, prosecution and trial of cases.
The Ministry of Finance directs customs, tax forces, and functional units to closely coordinate with relevant forces to promptly detect and handle individuals and businesses that smuggle, trade fraud, tax evasion, and tax fraud.
