Mr. Cao Huu Hieu - General Director of Vietnam Textile and Garment Group - said that most garment enterprises have enough production orders until the end of the fourth quarter of 2024 - the peak production season for Christmas and New Year orders.
"Based on existing signals, it is forecasted that the export turnover of the Vietnamese textile and garment industry in 2024 will increase by 8-10% compared to 2023. For the group, there are more positive signals from the market, especially the fiber industry, and production and business results in the last 6 months of the year will be better than expected," Mr. Hieu commented.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh - owner of a wooden furniture manufacturing enterprise in Binh Duong province also said that the factory is currently full of orders until the end of the year, needing about 50 more workers to work overtime to deliver on time. However, what he did not expect was that recruitment is now so difficult despite many increased incentives compared to before.
"The basic salary is about 8 million VND/month, an increase of 2 million VND compared to last year. We also have to go to some neighboring provinces to find people, instead of just hanging a notice at the company gate before," Mr. Thanh said.
As a garment enterprise with a good working environment and many benefits, Nha Be Garment Joint Stock Corporation is not out of the common difficulties.
Mr. Bui Viet Nam - Brand Communications Director of Nha Be Garment Joint Stock Corporation said that thousands of workers need to be recruited, but recruitment in the city is very difficult, because it is almost the end of the year, many workers choose to work near home.
According to Mr. Pham Xuan Hong - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Garment Embroidery and Knitting Association, the reason lies in the issue of social security for low-income workers. That is, solving the housing problem for low-income enterprises in industrial parks and clusters.
Mr. Hong said that businesses need to come up with good policies to stabilize the existing workforce and attract new workers. "Improving income and salary policies is very important. Businesses should support overtime pay, monthly bonuses and some other expenses for workers.
At the same time, we need to try not to work too much overtime but still ensure income by encouraging workers to work more productively," Mr. Hong suggested.
