On December 2, the Ministry of Transport submitted a report on the "Project to study the possibility of establishing Mang Den Airport" to the Prime Minister for consideration and approval.
Adding Mang Den Airport planning to the planning will comprehensively develop the national airport and seaport system in the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.
The proposed airport location is in Mang Den town, Kon Plong district, about 45km northeast of Kon Tum city center.
The planned area for the airport is located entirely on the hills and mountains, with an expected area of about 350 hectares; the planned capacity by 2030 is expected to be about 1 million passengers/year (oriented to renovate the chain to exploit beyond capacity for the period after 2030).
4C airport level according to the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization. The preliminary total investment in the construction of Mang Den Airport in the first phase is nearly 5,000 billion VND.
Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee affirmed that Mang Den Airport is an important driving force project, playing a role in promoting the province's socio-economic development.
The project will connect Kon Tum province with the centers and key economic regions of the country as well as serve rescue work well.
Kon Tum will focus on researching options for hiring qualified and experienced consultants to meet the conditions of an airport built in a mountainous area with complex terrain and geology.
The Mang Den Airport Project is invested in construction to create economic development space for Kon Tum in general and Mang Den National Ecotourism Area in particular. From there, it contributes to the formation of urban areas, industrial parks, services, tourism...
