Some goods and services increase in price locally
In the first three days of the new year, the Tet goods market largely maintained stability, without recording major price fluctuations. Some goods and services increased locally but not widely.
On February 19, 2026 (3rd day of Tet), it shows that trading activities at some people's markets have become busier than the first two days of the year. Recorded at Lam Ha market (Kien An district, Hai Phong) on the morning of the 3rd day of Tet, many small traders have reopened.
Ms. Minh Hang (45 years old, Hai Phong) said that prices generally do not fluctuate much compared to normal days, but have slightly increased in some items due to labor costs and limited supply at the beginning of the year. "The price does not differ too much but is also slightly higher than normal days. For example, 1 kg of vermicelli on normal days is 13,000 VND, but today it is 16,000 VND," Ms. Hang shared.
For food services, some restaurants selling throughout Tet adjusted prices in a stronger upward direction. Some breakfast vermicelli stalls increased significantly compared to normal days. If the common price before Tet is 20,000 VND/bowl, during Tet it is sold at 40,000 VND/bowl.
Not only food, transportation services also recorded significant adjustments. Ms. Le Thanh (35 years old, Thanh Hoa) said that the rental price of 4-seater cars traveling a distance of about 70 km increased by about 30% compared to normal days.
According to Ms. Thanh, the demand for travel at the beginning of the year is increasing while the number of vehicles operating is limited, causing fares to be pushed up.

Tet commodity prices are basically stable
According to a report by the Ministry of Finance, on February 17, 2026 (the 1st day of Tet), trading activities in the market were at a low level because people had actively shopped beforehand and spent time visiting, enjoying spring, and visiting pagodas.
Most traditional markets, supermarkets, and shopping centers are closed for Tet holidays; only a few shopping centers and convenience stores in large cities open during short hours. In many localities, a small part of small traders open for sale on a daily basis, mainly trading vegetables, fruits, and necessities, with a negligible number of customers.
The Ministry of Finance recorded that on the 1st day of Tet, the supply and demand of goods nationwide were basically stable, there was no shortage or sudden price increase for essential goods. Goods circulation was smooth, with no signs of supply disruption.
The service price for parking vehicles is basically maintained as usual. Some spontaneous parking spots in temples, pagodas, and festival areas have localized price increases but are not common and do not affect the general price level.
On February 18, 2026 (2nd day of Tet), the market began to become more vibrant when some retail systems opened for spring openings. Goods supply and demand are still maintained stably, without recording major price fluctuations.
In Ho Chi Minh City, some supermarkets such as Co.opmart, Satra resumed operations with a shortened time; some wholesale markets opened for sale, but the number of stalls is still limited. The amount of vegetables and fruits coming to Thu Duc wholesale market reached about 670 tons, down 52% compared to normal days; prices of many items are stable or slightly decreased due to low purchasing power.
At Hoc Mon market, the total volume of goods imported is about 138 tons, and the prices of vegetables, tubers, and fruits have returned to normal levels. Binh Dien market recorded 408 tons of goods, and seafood prices are relatively stable.
At traditional markets in Ho Chi Minh City, the price of Nang Thom rice in Dao market is 24,000-26,000 VND/kg; Jasmine rice is 22,000-22,000 VND/kg. Pork thigh is 125,000-130,000 VND/kg; pork belly is 155,000-16,000 VND/kg; beef fillet is 290,000-300,000 VND/kg; local chicken is 95,000-110,000 VND/kg. Grade 1 chicken eggs are commonly 35,000-37,000 VND/dozen; duck eggs are 39,000-40,000 VND/dozen. Vegetables such as Da Lat cabbage are 22,000-25,000 VND/kg; tomatoes are 35,000-42,000 VND/kg. Hoa Loc mangoes are 100,000-110,000 VND/kg; watermelons are 18,000-25,000 VND/kg.
In Hai Phong, the price of plain rice is 15,000-20,000 VND/kg; live pork is 77,000-84,000 VND/kg; beef tenderloin is 250,000-300,000 VND/kg; cabbage is 5,000-7,000 VND/kg. Beverages and beer remain popular as before Tet.
In Can Tho, the price of pork belly is 180,000 VND/kg, down 2 20,000 VND/kg; pork belly is 140,000 VND/kg, down 5,000 VND/kg. Some beer and soft drink items at small businesses increased by 10–20% due to surcharges for labor costs during holidays.
In Hue, the average price of ordinary rice is 17,500 VND/kg; Nang Huong rice is 19,000-25,000 VND/kg; jams, candies and soft drinks maintain stable prices. Some eateries charge a surcharge of 10-20% during Tet.

The Ministry of Finance assesses that the market operates safely and symmetrically. Prices of essential goods at supermarkets are fixed; no situation of hoarding goods or unreasonable price increases is recorded.
Some services serving spring trips and festivals have increased locally due to labor costs, but the increase is temporary. With many distribution systems opening early from the 2nd day of Tet, supply is quickly restored, limiting the risk of shortage of goods.
