Many golden land plots are stirring to start projects
In the first quarter of 2026, Gia Lai people were happy to witness many large projects on "golden land" stirring to start construction and groundbreaking, including many projects that have been "stuck" for many years, stagnant.
At the beginning of April 2026, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee and FLC Group held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Pleiku golf course project, a resort resort in the pine forest of Dak Doa commune, with a scale of 517ha and a total capital of nearly 20,000 billion VND. This is a long-term project due to legal obstacles in the investment process, which has then been removed by competent authorities to continue implementation in accordance with legal regulations.
In Pleiku mountain town, Se San Hotel (area of nearly 5,000m2) and Phu Dong traffic intersection have been messy for many years, infrastructure is degraded, golden land is abandoned, causing waste. In mid-April 2026, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee approved a plan to auction land use rights to implement a complex hotel and shopping center project in Pleiku ward. Phu Dong traffic intersection was also assigned by the Provincial People's Committee to specialized agencies to urgently clear the site, inject hundreds of billions of VND to clear and build, creating a new, modern, and civilized urban face.
Mr. Nguyen Van Lanh - residing in Pleiku ward - said: "These projects are all near the Pleiku urban center. For many years, everyone has been anxious because the investor is slow to implement. Now that the project has started, legal procedures are completed to embellish the city, people are happy and feel the new development.
Issuing an "ultimatum" for the coastal resort project
Regarding the coastal area, Gia Lai province directed resort projects that continue to be delayed and slow to implement will be considered for revocation. Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee assigned the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board to urge and supervise the progress of the Phuong Mai Bay Resort project and the Laimian project in Nhon Hoi Economic Zone.
Currently, the Laimian super resort project worth 13,000 billion VND is lying dormant, unfinished after more than a decade of construction. The Laimian project (formerly known as Thien Duong Xanh Luxury Resort) was once introduced as a "resort paradise" but has now stopped construction for a long time. A series of coastal villas are under construction, messy. Machinery and equipment serving the project are exposed outdoors, rusted by sea salt.
The Phuong Mai Bay Resort project is expected to have a scale of 600 5-star hotel rooms, 600 4-star hotel rooms and 166 villas, with the schedule assigned from July 2018 to July 2024. However, up to now, the project implementation progress is still... on paper.
Previously, the Gia Lai Provincial Economic Zone Management Board had a document proposing the Provincial People's Committee to terminate the operation of this project (total investment capital of 1,780 billion VND). However, the investor wishes to be facilitated to continue implementation and commits to completing and putting the project into operation by the end of 2027. The Provincial People's Committee requests the investor to focus resources, human resources, machinery, and equipment; construction must be started on the ground no later than June 2026.
The province requests the investor to regularly report on the implementation progress, clearly stating the reasons for the delay. If there is a violation, the investor must agree to terminate and revoke the project and there must be no complaints.
Mr. Thai Dai Ngoc - Secretary of Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee - affirmed that the province will continue to accelerate key infrastructure projects such as expressways, connecting road systems, upgrading international airports, developing industrial parks - clusters, logistics, deep-water ports.
