At some large gold shops in Ho Chi Minh City, the buying and selling atmosphere in recent days has been quite bustling. At Mi Hong store (Gia Dinh ward), the number of customers coming to trade is crowded, people are given serial numbers and come to the transaction counter in turn, avoiding the situation of jostling as before.
Many customers said that buying gold rings and gold bars is quite difficult nowadays. At SJC Company, with gold bars, each person is only allowed to buy a maximum of 1 tael/time, and must register online in advance to be eligible for transactions. Meanwhile, gold rings are also limited in quantity, only about 100 customers are allowed to buy each day due to insufficient supply.
Mr. Le Ngoc Hoang (resident of Binh Quoi ward) shared that with his current income, his family tried to save but only bought a maximum of 1 chi of gold. “Instead of spending money to buy gold bars or gold rings, I tried switching to buying 24K jewelry to both accumulate and be able to use when needed” - Mr. Hoang said.
However, with jewelry gold, buyers must accept additional processing costs, usually more than 1 million VND per product. However, according to Mr. Hoang, if gold prices continue to increase sharply, after deducting the processing cost, the product can still bring a profitable difference. This is also an option being considered by many people in the context of the volatile gold market and the increasingly tightened buying and selling channel.

Besides jewelry gold, many people in Ho Chi Minh City also choose 24K gold prodigy products for long-term accumulation. According to records, this product group is popular because of its beautiful designs, low quantity from 0.1 chi, easy to buy and sell and not tightened transaction conditions like gold bars.
Ms. Truong Kieu Duyen (resident of Vinh Hoi ward) said: "Gold bars must be registered online, while gold rings have to wait in line for a very long time, while 24K gold is easier to buy, and the designs are also compact. I buy them for savings, and can still resell them when needed without being too costly" - Ms. Duyen shared.
At about 10:30 am on January 17, in Ho Chi Minh City, the price of SJC gold bars was listed by businesses at 160.8 million VND/tael for buying and 162.8 million VND/tael for selling; at Mi Hong it was 161.3 - 162.8 million VND/tael.
The price of gold rings at SJC is at 157.2 - 159.7 million VND/tael (buying - selling); while at Mi Hong it is 161.3 - 162.8 million VND/tael.
