World oil prices today
World gasoline and oil prices continue to fluctuate strongly. At the end of the first trading session of the week, WTI and Brent oil prices increased by 2.2% and 1.61% respectively.
By this morning's session, both oil commodities turned down, at 9:04 am (Vietnam time), WTI oil price was at 70.40 USD/barrel, down 0.33 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 0.47%. WTI oil price closed the previous trading session at 70.75 USD/barrel and opened today's session at 70.44 USD/barrel.
Brent oil price was at 73.67 USD/barrel, down 0.24 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 0.32%. Brent oil price ended the previous trading session at 73.91 USD/barrel and opened today's session at 73.61 USD/barrel.
According to analysts, at the close of Monday's trading session, world oil prices rose after back-and-forth attacks between the US and Iran showed that the temporary ceasefire agreement between the two countries is still very fragile. However, the upward momentum of oil prices was limited as the market expects energy transportation through the Strait of Hormuz to continue to be restored.
Crude oil exports from the Persian Gulf region have now recovered to about 75% compared to the time before the conflict broke out. However, analysts warn that ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz is still significantly lower than normal, causing oil prices to remain at a relatively high level.
According to experts, the market is gradually realizing that it is impossible to fully restore oil flows from the Gulf region in just one or two weeks, as well as bring export activities back to pre-war levels in a short time. As long as security risks remain, ship owners still face the risk of ships being attacked when passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
In addition, the presence of naval mines on this maritime route and the fact that insurance companies are still not ready to resume normal operations continue to hinder ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, sea transport data shows that energy producers in the Middle East still maintain the operation of loading and unloading crude oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG), despite new attacks targeting ships in the Strait of Hormuz as well as airstrikes between the US and Iran in recent days.
