World oil price today
World oil prices today fell sharply. At 10:54, WTI crude oil was at 66.42 USD/barrel, down 0.53 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 0.79%. WTI crude oil closed the previous trading session at 66.95 USD/barrel, opening today's session at 66.63 USD/barrel.
Brent oil was at 69.63 USD/barrel, down 0.53 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 0.76%. Brent oil closed the previous trading session at 70.14 USD/barrel and opened today's session at 69.83 USD/barrel.
Thus, world oil prices are on a very sharp decline. At the end of yesterday's trading session (September 3), both oil products decreased by more than 6%. Of which, Brent oil decreased by 6.42%; WTI oil decreased by 6.64%, the strongest decrease in nearly 3 years. By this morning's session, both oil products continued to plummet.
According to analysts, oil prices fell sharply after OPEC+ suddenly agreed to increase production in the context of a market shaky by new US tariffs. The economy and oil demand are closely linked. The market is still affected by tariffs, but the combination of rising oil production and weaker global economic prospects puts downward pressure on oil prices and could open a new chapter in the volatile market.
Investors continue to worry that the tariffs announced by US President Donald Trump on February 2 will escalate the global trade war, limit economic growth and limit fuel demand.
