World oil prices today
World gasoline and oil prices are showing strong fluctuations. At the end of yesterday's trading session (June 3), WTI and Brent oil prices increased by 2.41% and 1.89% respectively.
By this morning's session, both oil commodities simultaneously turned down. At 7:08 am (Vietnam time), WTI oil price was at 95.39 USD/barrel, down 0.63 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 0.66%. WTI oil closed the previous session at 96.02 USD/barrel and opened today's session at 95.84 USD/barrel.
Brent oil price was at 97.34 USD/barrel, down 0.57 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 0.58%. Brent oil closed the previous session at 97.90 USD/barrel and opened today's session at 97.93 USD/barrel.
According to analysts, Iran has launched ballistic missiles targeting Kuwait and Bahrain, killing one person and injuring dozens. In response, the US military launched airstrikes on Iran's Qeshm Island. Analysts believe that the prospect of achieving a ceasefire is becoming more fragile, a development considered unfavorable for the energy market. To date, negotiations have not recorded significant progress as the parties continue to consider drafts and messages exchanged recently.
Previously, Iranian media said that Tehran had not sent a response to Washington in recent days. Message exchange activities through intermediaries have also been temporarily suspended until Iran's conditions related to ending the fighting in Lebanon are met.
Meanwhile, Israel is deploying its deepest military campaign into Lebanese territory in about 25 years. The conflict broke out on March 2nd, when Hezbollah forces launched attacks to show support for Iran.
Analysts believe that the continued blockade of the Strait of Hormuz is causing significant disruptions to global energy transportation, thereby increasing concerns about supply and creating price pressure on the oil market.
Besides geopolitical risks, the market is also dominated by signals of tight supply in the US. The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) said that the country's crude oil inventories in the week ending May 29 decreased by 8 million barrels, to 433.7 million barrels. This decrease is more than double the analysts' forecast of a decrease of 4 million barrels, amid strong export demand and oil refining activities.
