In the first 6 months of 2026, the Hanoi Market Management (QLTT) force inspected 2,992 cases, discovered and handled 2,864 cases of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods trading. At the same time, 43 cases with signs of crime have been transferred to investigating agencies for further verification and handling according to regulations. The above information was announced by the Hanoi Market Management Sub-Department on July 6.
According to the Hanoi Market Management Department, from inspection and handling of violations, the amount paid to the state budget reached more than 56.6 billion VND. The total value of goods confiscated, forced to destroy or destroyed according to regulations is estimated at nearly 47.8 billion VND.
Head of Hanoi Market Management Department Duong Manh Hung said that the operating methods of violators are changing a lot. Besides traditional business forms, many subjects are switching to taking advantage of social networks, e-commerce platforms and online sales platforms to consume violating goods.
According to Mr. Hung, transactions, payments and transportation are currently carried out through many intermediaries, making it more difficult for functional forces to detect, collect evidence and handle them.

To prevent smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the last months of the year, the Hanoi Market Management Department will strengthen market inspection and control under the direction of the Government, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Hanoi People's Committee and the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade.
The focus of inspection will be essential goods, goods at high risk of violation, smuggled goods, counterfeit goods, goods of unknown origin and goods infringing intellectual property rights.
Along with that, functional forces will strengthen the supervision of e-commerce activities to promptly detect and handle cases of taking advantage of the online environment to trade in violating goods. Fields related to food safety, gasoline and oil business and goods directly affecting consumer health are also in the key inspection group.
Representatives of the Hanoi Market Management Department said that in the last months of the year, especially during holidays, Tet and the peak shopping season, people's consumption demand will increase sharply. This is also a time of potential risk of increasing smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods trading.
Therefore, strengthening market inspection and control and strictly handling violations is expected to contribute to stabilizing the market, protecting consumer rights and creating a healthy competitive environment for businesses.
