According to Sub-Department of Customs of Region VII, as of December 31, 2025, the budget revenue of Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs reached 97% of the target assigned by Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, reaching 115.4% of the target assigned by the Customs Department.
In particular, in the last 4 months of 2025, revenue reached 451.7 billion VND, an increase of 68% compared to the same period in 2024 and an increase of 129.7% compared to 2023, showing the strong growth momentum of import and export activities through the area.
Key export items include dragon fruit, durian, lychee, cassava, wood, coffee, footwear; main import items include vegetables, machinery, mechanical equipment, iron and steel, chemicals, fertilizers - serving production, construction and local economic development.
Compared to previous years, the budget revenue results in 2025 recorded a clear breakthrough when exceeding the revenue levels of the years from 2020 to 2024. Specifically, in 2020 it reached 948.2 billion VND; in 2021 it reached 928.7 billion VND; in 2022 it reached 549.5 billion VND; in 2023 it reached 576.3 billion VND and in 2024 it reached 817.6 billion VND.

Also according to records, on the first day of the new year 2026, import and export activities at Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. II (Kim Thanh Border Gate) were very bustling. Groups of trucks carrying agricultural products lined up to carry out customs clearance procedures to the Chinese market, bringing expectations for a favorable trading year and showing positive signals for import and export activities.
To complete customs clearance procedures quickly, customs forces at border gates deploy synchronous and scientific inspection and supervision, both ensuring safety and helping goods circulate quickly, limiting waiting time for businesses.
At the same time, functional forces at the border gates deploy tasks to coordinate smoothly, ensure security and order, control the quality of agricultural products, implement trade regulations and support businesses in resolving procedures, helping import and export goods to be cleared quickly, orderly and safely.
Export activities are going smoothly, while imports also recorded many shipments being cleared quickly. On January 1, 2026, a shipment of 25 self-loading dump trucks completed procedures, bringing in nearly 10 billion VND in state budget revenue.
Imported shipments of mechanical equipment and machinery were also successively cleared, helping businesses to soon implement production and business plans at the beginning of the year.
