Import-export increased by 16%
According to data from the Customs Department, the total import-export value of Vietnam's goods in June 2025 is estimated at 75.59 billion USD, down 3.9% (equivalent to a decrease of 3.04 billion USD) compared to the previous month.
Of which, exports reached about 39 billion USD, down 1.5% (equivalent to a decrease of 0.59 billion USD); imports reached 36.59 billion USD, down 6.3% (equivalent to a decrease of 2.45 billion USD). The trade balance of goods in June is estimated to have a surplus of 2.41 billion USD.
In the first 6 months of 2025, the total import-export turnover of goods is estimated at 431.49 billion USD, up 16% (equivalent to an increase of 59.49 billion USD) over the same period in 2024.
Exports alone reached 219.34 billion USD, up 14.2% (equivalent to an increase of 27.29 billion USD); imports reached 212.15 billion USD, up 17.9% (equivalent to an increase of 32.20 billion USD). The trade balance of goods in the first 6 months of 2025 is estimated to have a surplus of 7.19 billion USD, down 40.6% compared to the surplus of the same period last year.
Regarding the state budget revenue from import-export activities, the Customs Department said that the revenue in June 2025 reached VND38,688 billion, down 6.3% compared to May 2025. Accumulated from January 1, 2025 to June 30, 2025, the total revenue reached VND 222,749 billion, equal to 54.2% of the assigned estimate.
Compared to the same period in 2024, budget revenue from import-export activities in the first 6 months of the year increased by 10.3%, equivalent to an increase of VND 20,874 billion.
Many major violations discovered, worth more than 13,600 billion VND
From December 15, 2024 to June 14, 2025, the entire customs sector detected, arrested and handled 8,561 cases of customs law violations, with the estimated value of violated goods being VND 13,614 billion. The amount of money collected for the state budget reached about 461.36 billion VND. The customs authority has prosecuted 8 cases and recommended prosecuting 54 other cases.
In the field of drug prevention and control alone, the customs force has presided over and coordinated the arrest of 103 cases with 110 subjects, seizing about 2 tons of various drugs - an increase of 94.7% over the same period last year.
The Customs Department said that the situation of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods is still complicated, especially on sea routes, accounting for more than 53% of cases, concentrated in major ports such as Cat Lai, Dinh Vu, Hiep Phuoc... Common violations include false declaration of goods, values, customs codes and origin.
The road has recorded many cases of transporting firecrackers, cigarettes, frozen foods... without legal documents. On the air route, the subjects take advantage of express delivery channels and e-commerce to illegally transport drugs, currency, and gold.
The Customs Department has issued many key control plans, implementing peak months according to the direction of the Government in Official Dispatch No. 65/CD-TTg dated May 15, 2025. In just the period from May 15 to June 15, 2025, the customs authority discovered 93 violations, valuing goods at over VND 1,621 billion, including 12 cases of counterfeit goods, violating intellectual property rights.
