happily waiting for hours to buy specialty baked cakes
At 6:30 a.m. on September 21, in front of Dong Phuong bakery on Cau Dat Street, dozens of people lined up from the sidewalk to the road to wait to buy moon cakes. Ms. Kim Thoa (Da Nang street) said that this is the right time to buy cakes to burn incense on the 1st day of the 8th lunar month and the entire full moon day (Mid-Autumn Festival). Therefore, Ms. Thoa volunteered to wake up early to buy cakes for her family and relatives, the quantity was up to nearly 100 cakes. "I set the alarm at 5am, went to the bakery at 5:30am, but there were some customers lining up to wait. Everyone was happy and eager to queue up to buy cakes as a habit" - Ms. Thoa said.
According to Tien Anh (22 years old, a visitor from Hanoi), to catch the 9:00 a.m. Hai Phong - Hanoi train, Tien Anh also lined up from 6am to buy the first batch of cakes of the day, bringing them back to the capital as gifts for relatives. "Knowing that I went out to Hai Phong, my family always told me to buy traditional moon cakes on Cau Dat street because the taste of the cakes here is quite special and delicious. The price, I think, is not too expensive compared to this year's cake market" - Tien Anh shared.
According to the reporter's records, the bustling situation of buying and selling moon cakes on Cau Dat street has been going on since the 15th of the 7th lunar month. However, people lined up in order, did not jostle, happily waiting until 7am to buy a new batch of cakes for the day. The price of baked cakes at the famous Dong Phuong bakery in Hai Phong ranges from 65,000 VND/piece to 245,000 VND/piece, traditional mixed-use sticky rice cakes range from 65,000 -135,000 VND/cakes, sticky rice cakes, large-sized baked cakes cost up to 2,550,000 VND/cakes of 3 kg...
Warning about forgery
To take care of customers who have to wait in line for a long time on the sidewalk, before opening for sale, the moon cake shop on Cau Dat street also turned on a large-capacity fan, preparing human resources for the buying and selling process to take place quickly, without causing congestion.
Due to the increasing number of customers, the bakery has stopped placing orders from September 20 to October 4, selling directly at the only address on Cau Dat street. Therefore, the number of customers lining up to buy cakes from September 20 has also increased. The local government also organizes free parking lots managed by veterans for people and tourists coming to buy moon cakes to avoid vehicles and people overflowing onto the road causing traffic congestion.
Along with that, many stores also issued warnings to customers about impersonating employees to offer cakes or selling fake branded cakes on social networks...
