According to a survey from the morning of the 3rd day of Tet, the commercial infrastructure system across the country has become busier. Many supermarkets and large shopping centers such as Saigon Co.op, Central Retail, MM Mega Market, Lotte Mart, WinMart, GO!, AEON Mall have simultaneously reopened, maintaining abundant supply and implementing many spring opening promotions to stimulate consumer demand at the beginning of the year.
At people's markets, the number of stalls increased significantly compared to the 1st and 2nd days of Tet. The convenience store system continues to be open throughout the holidays, meeting the flexible shopping needs of people. In general, goods circulation activities are smooth, without recording supply disruptions or local scarcity.
In localities, daily consumption demand mainly focuses on fresh food groups such as green vegetables, seafood, pork, beef to supplement the first meals of the year. In addition, spiritual items such as fresh flowers, offering fruits and preparing for the votive offering ceremony still maintain stable purchasing power.
In terms of price levels, the market basically maintains a level equivalent to the pre-Tet period. If there is a slight increase, it will only occur locally at some small retail outlets. At supermarket systems, commodity prices are fixed, many items are also discounted and promoted, contributing to maintaining consumer psychology stability. Overall, supply and demand of goods are balanced, and the market operates according to normal rules.
For gasoline and oil products, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has allocated a total minimum source of nearly 31.8 million m3/ton in 2026, averaging about 2.65 million m3/ton/month, ensuring to meet economic growth targets and consumption needs. Key traders and distributors are required to maintain circulating reserves in accordance with regulations, supply fully to the retail system, and prevent supply interruptions, including local ones.
According to information from the Domestic Market Management and Development Department, as of February 19, 2026, the retail gasoline and oil store system nationwide operated stably, and no situation of illegal closing, speculation, hoarding or unreasonable price increases was detected. Entering the 4th day of Tet and the following days, many supermarkets, convenience stores and traditional markets will reopen with more diverse sources of goods. However, purchasing power is expected not to increase sharply because people are still on holidays. Consumer demand continues to focus on fresh food, vegetables, fruits; food and tourism services in major cities, attractions, and temples will be more vibrant.
Prices of essential goods are forecast to remain stable; at traditional markets, food prices may slightly decrease as supply increases again.
