At the National Conference summarizing the work in 2025 of the Ministry of Finance, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Quang Ngoc emphasized the particularly important significance of the merger of Hung Yen and Thai Binh provinces.
According to the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, in 2025, under the timely and effective direction of the Government, the Prime Minister and central ministries and branches, along with the consensus of the entire political system, the business community and all classes of people, Hung Yen province continued to achieve many positive results in all fields.
The economic growth rate is among the highest in the country; the economy is developing on three pillars, in which industry is breaking through, trade - services are flourishing, and agriculture continues to be maintained stably.
In particular, total state budget revenue in the area reached 101,451 billion VND, reaching over 183% of the estimate. Many large and key projects were started, especially in the fields of transport infrastructure, industry, urban areas, services, culture - sports, thereby opening up new development space for the locality.

Investment attraction in 2025 achieved positive results, with total new and increased investment capital reaching 174 trillion VND and 2.33 billion USD; accumulated total foreign direct investment (FDI) reached 17.13 billion USD. The organizational structure was arranged and operated smoothly, gradually forming a unified and continuous economic space, creating a foundation for development in the new period.
Also according to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, implementing Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW of the Party Central Committee on the strategy for sustainable development of the marine economy, Hung Yen province has proactively issued many specific programs and action plans, identifying the marine economy as one of the pillars of rapid and sustainable development.
The focus is on developing Thai Binh Economic Zone to become a new growth engine, attracting large-scale industrial and energy projects, gradually forming an energy, industrial and coastal logistics center of the Red River Delta region.
Currently, the province is urgently completing the dossier and reporting to competent authorities for consideration and permission to establish the Free Economic Zone of Hung Yen province on the basis of Thai Binh Economic Zone, aiming to become the first free economic zone in the country.
This economic zone is expected to create breakthrough momentum in attracting strategic investment, developing high-tech industry, high-quality services and a modern seaport - logistics system, contributing to improving competitiveness and making positive contributions to the overall growth of the region and the whole country.
