On June 5, in Tinh Bien ward, the Ministry of Industry and Trade coordinated with the People's Committee of An Giang province to organize a conference to connect trade in the Vietnam - Cambodia - Laos border region with the theme "Connecting border trade - Green and digital trade breakthrough".
Speaking at the Conference, Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Le Trung Ho said: The Conference aims to connect, exchange experiences and cooperation between border localities of Vietnam - Cambodia - Laos; promote trade promotion, promote products in border areas. Through trade promotion activities, strengthen regional linkages, support businesses to improve competitiveness, in which focus on promoting trade promotion with Cambodian and Lao markets...

The conference is a forum of utmost importance, an opportunity for leaders of ministries, departments, central and local branches and the Cambodian and Lao business community to exchange and share information; continue to open up and shape a new stage for economic cooperation, especially promoting Vietnam - Cambodia - Laos trade to reach further in the region and internationally.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Trung Ho informed that An Giang not only has a nearly 148 km long land border with 3 international border gates: Vinh Xuong, Tinh Bien, Ha Tien, but also a seaport system and Phu Quoc international airport; thereby helping An Giang become a multi-dimensional goods transit gateway, a strategic trading hub of the entire Mekong Delta region, with Phnom Penh and the Gulf of Thailand.
Currently, the province is focusing all resources to accelerate the progress of key transport infrastructure projects, which are inter-regional connectivity. Taking businesses as the center of cooperation, committing to accompany, listen to, and minimize time and costs for businesses; creating a transparent, attractive, and most favorable investment and business environment for businesses to feel secure in investing and developing in the long term.
“We not only want to sell products, but also want to work with Cambodian and Lao businesses to create products with higher value. An Giang invites Cambodian and Lao businesses to cooperate in building raw material areas, then bring them to deep processing plants in An Giang to create common brand products, together respond best, strongly promote resources, and reach out to conquer the international market,” Mr. Le Trung Ho emphasized.

Mr. Bui Quang Hung, Deputy Director of the Trade Promotion Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade) said: Over the past time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, together with ministries, branches, localities, and Vietnamese Trade Offices in Cambodia and Laos, have coordinated to organize many fairs, exhibitions, business forums, trade connection conferences and trade delegations.
Mr. Hung affirmed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to closely coordinate with relevant ministries and branches of Vietnam as well as Cambodian and Lao functional agencies to build a favorable trade environment.In parallel, the parties promote administrative procedure reform; develop border trade infrastructure, logistics and cross-border e-commerce; at the same time, the parties jointly strengthen trade promotion activities, support businesses in digital transformation and green transformation.
The Mekong Delta region currently plays an important trade gateway of Vietnam with the Mekong sub-region; in which, An Giang emerges as an important agricultural and aquatic production center; and at the same time possesses an advantage in marine economy with a seaport system and strategic trading hubs, creating a continuous connecting corridor between the region and Cambodia and countries in the region.
At the conference, delegates also exchanged contents on the development orientation of border trade in the current period; advantages and difficulties in production and trade cooperation in the strengths of Vietnam and Cambodia (agriculture, processing - manufacturing, renewable energy); Vietnam - Cambodia border logistics to promote supply chains;...

On this occasion, the An Giang Provincial Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center, the Vietnam Business Club and the Khmer Business Association - Vietnam signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation (MOU) with businesses.
