At the press conference to inform about the results of the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress on June 5, answering questions from press agencies about the implementation of social housing projects for rent for workers, laborers and low-income people, Mr. Le Van Nghia - Vice President of the 14th Vietnam General Confederation of Labor said that the 2023 Housing Law clearly stipulates that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor is one of the entities participating in social housing investment.
On that basis, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has developed a plan to implement from 2024 to concretize the assigned tasks. In the period 2024-2025, the Trade Union organization focuses on investing in 3 workers' housing projects for rent.
To date, all 3 projects have been started in localities including Bac Ninh and Ben Tre (now Vinh Long province), with a total scale of 1,722 apartments. These projects are expected to be completed and put into operation from 2027, contributing to meeting the housing needs of workers in industrial parks.

Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Le Van Nghia said that according to the Prime Minister's decision on the Project to develop at least 1 million social housing units by 2030, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor is assigned the task of building 10,000 housing units for workers in the period 2023-2030.
To complete this goal, in addition to the 3 projects being implemented, the General Confederation of Labour plans to continue investing in 10 to 15 new projects in provinces and cities across the country from 2026 to 2030, with a scale of about 9,000 apartments.
Thus, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor plans to build about 10,700 apartments. With the current progress, we will basically complete the target assigned by the Prime Minister," Mr. Le Van Nghia affirmed.
According to leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the implementation of worker housing projects for rent not only contributes to the implementation of the Government's social housing development goals but also creates conditions for workers to have stable housing, feel secure in their work, and be attached to businesses and industrial parks for a long time.
