Inspecting business households in Ho Chi Minh City, discovering many products showing signs of violations

On May 28, the Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Department said that it had continuously inspected many business households and discovered hundreds of products suspected of being fake.

Through area management, grasping the situation and deploying professional measures, Market Management Team No. 12 discovered a business household in Gia Dinh ward, showing signs of trading goods without invoices, documents and signs of intellectual property infringement.

Market Management Team No. 12 coordinated with Gia Dinh Ward Police to inspect this business household. Through actual inspection, functional forces discovered that the facility was displaying and selling 92 pairs of Nike and Adidas branded sports shoes and sandals without invoices or documents proving the origin of goods. All goods were unused, with original labels in foreign languages but no auxiliary labels in Vietnamese as prescribed. The total value of the shipment was more than 103 million VND.

Market Management Team No. 12 has made a record of inspection, established a case file and temporarily seized all exhibits showing signs of violation. At the same time, the unit continues to coordinate with representatives of intellectual property rights owners of the two brands Nike and Adidas being protected in Vietnam to clarify and handle according to legal regulations.

In addition, from May 5-18, the inspection team of Market Management Team No. 16 deployed 14 inspection decisions for business households on crowded trading routes in Phu Hoa Dong, Tan An Hoi and Cu Chi communes.

Through inspection, functional forces recorded hundreds of products sealed and temporarily seized due to suspicion of counterfeiting trademarks, unknown origin and without invoices and documents attached. Among these, there are many cosmetic items such as skin creams, hair masks, makeup removers, perfumes of unknown origin; along with sports shoes, sandals, socks, pants of Lacoste, Nike, Adidas, Crocs brands with designs and models similar to genuine goods but sold at much lower prices.

The inspection team temporarily seized 304 units of products with a total value according to the listed price of more than 61 million VND.

The inspection team of Market Management Team No. 16 proposed that the Head of Market Management Team No. 16 issue a decision to sanction administrative violations according to legal regulations, and at the same time force the destruction of all exhibits of violations.
