MINH QUÂN |

Ho Chi Minh City opens a peak period of inspection and strict handling of intellectual property infringement acts until May 30 with the principle of no forbidden zones, no exceptions.

On May 18, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a document implementing the Prime Minister's Telegram on combating, preventing, and handling acts of intellectual property rights infringement.

According to the direction of the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, departments, branches, functional forces and People's Committees of communes, wards, and special zones must simultaneously deploy a peak inspection period until the end of May 30, 2026 with a drastic and synchronous spirit, without forbidden zones, without exceptions.

The peak period focuses on acts of producing and trading counterfeit goods; counterfeit goods for trademarks and geographical indications; copyright infringement, related rights; violations in the digital environment and e-commerce.

Ho Chi Minh City Police are assigned to take the lead in synchronously deploying professional measures, comprehensively reviewing routes, areas, fields, organizations, individuals, businesses and business establishments showing signs of violations.

Functional forces will focus on inspecting warehouses, gathering points, transshipment points, websites, applications, groups, digital platforms, payment accounts, logistics services and "online warehouse" models that are at risk of intellectual property infringement.

In particular, Ho Chi Minh City Police will strengthen the detection and handling of acts of taking advantage of social networks, e-commerce platforms, livestream sales, delivery services and payment intermediaries to produce, distribute, and consume counterfeit goods or digital content that infringes copyright.

Inter-provincial, transnational or closed-loop networks operating in cyberspace will be focused on dismantling. Ho Chi Minh City Police urgently consolidate dossiers and evidence to prosecute and investigate ringleaders, protectors, and accomplices for illegal activities.

The People's Procuracy of Ho Chi Minh City and the People's Court of Ho Chi Minh City are requested to closely coordinate with the investigating agency in the process of receiving and processing criminal information sources, investigating, prosecuting and trying cases related to intellectual property, ensuring strict and lawful handling.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports promotes inspection of acts of copyright infringement of computer programs, advertising, publications, films, art performances, radio - television and related cultural and tourism activities.

The city requires this sector to increase the number of violations handled by at least 20% compared to May 2025. At the same time, prevent the situation of taking advantage of advertising and media activities to promote goods that violate intellectual property rights or illegally use images of artists, athletes, and celebrities.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade directed the Market Management force to strengthen inspections at wholesale markets, commercial centers, supermarkets, warehouses, production facilities, transportation units, e-commerce platforms and areas with complex counterfeit and fake goods. The goal is to ensure that the number of handled cases increases by at least 20% compared to the same period last year.
