With the managed area being the central area, high population density and high concentration of tourists, Market Management Team No. 4 has strengthened the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods. Functional forces focus on inspecting prominent areas, traditional markets and commercial centers, resolutely handling violations to stabilize the market.

At Saigon Square Shopping Center (TTTM), although many stores closed to avoid inspection when functional forces appeared, Market Management Team No. 4 still discovered many businesses selling watches, glasses, bags, suitcases and fashion items showing signs of violation.
Products suspected of being counterfeit goods, goods of unknown origin or infringing on the intellectual property rights of many famous brands protected in Vietnam. Violating goods are sold publicly but have poor quality packaging, faulty seams, blurred logos and unusually low selling prices.

At Ben Thanh market, inspection teams of Market Management Team No. 4 made records and seized hundreds of watches, handbags, and glasses with signs of counterfeit brands for further investigation and clarification.
Since the beginning of the peak period, Market Management Team No. 4 has inspected and handled 49 violations related to counterfeit goods, goods of unknown origin and trademark counterfeiting. The total amount of administrative fines is more than 500 million VND. At the same time, all violating goods have been destroyed to prevent poor quality goods from circulating on the market.
Meanwhile, Market Management Team No. 18 inspected 16 households trading in fashion items such as clothes, shoes, and glasses in the managed area. Through inspection, functional forces discovered and temporarily seized 405 counterfeit products of brands such as Gucci, Ray-Ban, Adidas...

Market Management Team No. 18 has completed dossiers to fine 16 business households with a total amount of 150 million VND, and at the same time forced the destruction of all counterfeit trademarks. The total value of violating goods is more than 111 million VND.
According to the market management force, recently the situation of trading in counterfeit goods has become complicated and unpredictable. One of the reasons is the demand from a part of consumers and tourists. Even knowing that they are counterfeit goods, many people still accept to buy because the price is cheap or want to own products similar to branded goods but do not have enough financial capacity.
In addition, the profit from counterfeit goods is very high, causing many small traders to accept risks. The supply of counterfeit goods is increasingly sophisticated, distributed through many intermediaries, causing difficulties for tracing and cracking down. In addition, the current penalty level is considered not enough to deter, causing some small traders to see fines as a part of "business costs".
