Tricks to circumvent bills to collect electricity bills of 4,500 VND/kWh from landlords

Surveys at many rented houses and mini-apartments in Cau Giay ward (Hanoi) show that many homeowners are collecting fixed electricity bills from 3,500-4,500 VND/kWh. Some places even admit to recording electricity bills according to State prices on invoices, but adding the difference to the "other expenses" item so that tenants still have to pay equivalent to 4,500 VND/kWh.

According to lawyer Tran Tuan Anh - Director of Bright Legal Law Firm, the calculation of electricity prices for tenants must comply with the regulations of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. If tenants do not sign electricity purchase contracts directly with the electricity industry, homeowners are not allowed to collect a total electricity bill exceeding the amount on the electricity bill after allocating according to regulations on the number of users and norms.

In case the homeowner arbitrarily fixes a fixed electricity price or collects it higher than the permitted level, it is an act of violating regulations on electricity selling prices. According to Decree 133/2026/ND-CP, landlords may be fined from 20-30 million VND and forced to return to tenants the amount of electricity money collected exceeding regulations. See more...

Cracking down on a cross-border fake shoe processing line for export

In June 2026, through coordination with the US Internal Security Investigation Agency (HSI), the Domestic Market Management and Development Agency discovered a line suspected of processing fake Nike brand shoes in Vietnam for export to the US. After verification, functional agencies found that the scale of the case was much larger than initially and inspected MP Company in Ho Chi Minh City on July 16 with the coordination of the Ministry of Public Security.

At the scene, functional forces discovered more than 25,000 pairs of finished shoes, nearly 21,000 pairs of shoe caps and 10,800 pairs of shoe soles bearing Nike, Nike Air and Air Jordan brands, with a total market value of more than 100 billion VND. The enterprise declared production under a processing contract with a foreign partner and has exported 11 containers of shoes to the United States since the beginning of 2026.

Functional agencies determined that the goods showed signs of trademark counterfeiting, have temporarily seized exhibits, and continue to expand the investigation. See more...

More than 41.3 million PNJ shares bottom-fished

PNJ shares became the focus of the trading session on July 24 when they fell to the floor price of 30,750 VND/share, despite recording a record liquidity of more than 41.3 million shares. Foreign investors net sold about 18.7 million shares, while bottom-fishing pressure mainly came from domestic investors. Since information related to the diamond smuggling case, PNJ shares have lost more than half of their value, causing the enterprise's capitalization to decrease by more than 16,500 billion VND.

The stock market quickly returned to the correction momentum after the previous recovery session. Closing the session on July 24, VN-Index decreased by 13.27 points to 1,686.11 points, liquidity decreased by about 30% compared to the previous session. Overall for the week, the index lost 101.34 points (-5.66%), marking the fourth consecutive week of decline, with many large-cap stocks such as MWG, SSI and GVR simultaneously falling sharply.

Securities companies believe that the recent increase is mainly a technical recovery, not enough basis to confirm a new upward trend. See more...
