Vietnam's economy in the first 11 months of 2025: Import-export, FDI and tourism all accelerate

The economic picture for the first 11 months of 2025 shows steady growth in most sectors, from import-export exceeding 839 billion USD, FDI capital increased by nearly 9%.

According to the report of the Statistics Office, Ministry of Finance, in 11 months, the total import and export turnover of goods reached 77.06 billion USD, down 5.4% over the previous month and up 15.6% over the same period last year. In the first eleven months of 2025, the total import and export turnover of goods reached 839.75 billion USD, up 17.2% over the same period last year, of which exports increased by 16.1%; imports increased by 18.4%. The trade balance of goods had a surplus of 20.53 billion USD.

In terms of investment, foreign direct investment (FDI) registered in Vietnam as of November 30 reached 33.69 billion USD, up 7.4% over the same period last year. Direct FDI capital reached 23.6 billion USD, up 8.9% over the same period last year.

Vietnam's foreign investment in the first 11 months of 2025 reached 742.8 million USD, up 33.8% over the same period last year. In total, Vietnam's total foreign investment capital (newly granted and adjusted capital) reached 1.1 billion USD, up 83.9% over the same period last year.

Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in the first 11 months of 2025 is estimated at 6.3 million billion VND, up 9.1% over the same period last year.

The Index of Industrial Production (IIP) in November 2025 is estimated to increase by 2.3% compared to the previous month and increase by 10.8% compared to November 2024. In the first 11 months of 2025, IIP is estimated to increase by 9.3% over the same period last year.

Of which, the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 10.6%, the water supply industry, waste and wastewater management and treatment activities increased by 8.4%, the electricity production and distribution industry increased by 6.5%...

In the first 11 months of 2025, the whole country had 275.6 thousand newly registered and returning to operation, an increase of 26.1% over the same period last year. On average, 25,000 newly established and returning to operation enterprises per month.

The number of enterprises withdrawing from the market is 205.4 thousand enterprises, an increase of 18.6% over the same period last year; On average, 18.7 thousand enterprises withdraw from the market per month. The total registered capital added to the economy in the first 11 months of 2025 is 5.6 million billion VND, an increase of 104.3% over the same period in 2024.

In addition, thanks to favorable visa policies, tourism promotion and promotion programs have been promoted along with large-scale events in many localities, attracting a large number of international visitors to Vietnam.

In November 2025, international visitors to our country reached nearly 1.98 million, an increase of 14.2% over the previous month and an increase of 15.6% over the same period last year. In the first 11 months of 2025, international visitors to Vietnam reached 19.15 million, an increase of 20.9% over the same period last year.
