From 5am this morning - December 6, the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, Ministry of Construction deployed a temporary traffic organization plan on the La Son - Hoa Lien section under the North - South Expressway Expansion Project in the East.
Accordingly, passenger cars and trucks on 6 axles are prohibited from circulating; the remaining vehicles are only allowed to travel on the route from 05:00 to 17:00 every day. The section from Km50+700 to Km50+800 is only open to 1 lane, with regular regulating forces on duty 24/7. On the entire route, the maximum speed applied is 50km/h.
The traffic limitation was introduced in the context of prolonged heavy rain in Hue city and Da Nang city in recent days. It is forecasted that in December, there will be a possibility of 12 more storms, causing rain and posing a potential risk of forming a slide and landslides at some locations on the route. Unfavorable weather conditions make night travel unsafe, although management forces still maintain a duty regime, monitor and handle incidents.
The Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board has notified relevant agencies to coordinate in regulating and dividing the flow. People and vehicles are advised to proactively choose an alternative route to ensure safety. Traffic police in Da Nang and Hue continue to guide and remind drivers not to enter restricted areas.
Previously, the management unit issued documents regulating traffic on November 8 and November 20, in the direction of banning passenger vehicles and trucks on 6 axles and only allowing daytime traffic. The continued application of the new plan from December 6 to January 6 aims to ensure absolute safety for people and vehicles during geological monitoring and re-evaluation of the scene before considering the opening of the 2-lane route.
