Lao Cai fines hydropower company for not collecting public opinions

Lao Cai - The authorities have fined the hydropower company for not consulting with residents before implementing the project.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lao Cai province has just issued a decision to administratively fine Nam Kim Hydropower Joint Stock Company 130 million VND.

According to the records, Nam Kim Hydropower Joint Stock Company is headquartered in Trong La village, Khao Mang commune, Lao Cai province.

The enterprise is directed by Mr. Do Minh Duc and has a legal representative.

Through inspection, the specialized agency determined that the enterprise had constructed the Ho Bon 2 Hydropower Plant without consulting the community, organizations and individuals involved according to regulations. At the time of making the record, the project had completed about 30% of the volume.

This behavior violates Point c, Clause 6, Article 29 of Decree 36/2020/ND-CP of the Government on administrative sanctions in the field of water resources and minerals.

Based on the above, the Department of Agriculture and Environment decided to fine Nam Kim Hydropower Joint Stock Company VND 130 million.

Enterprises are responsible for paying fines at the State Treasury of Region IX or commercial banks where the Treasury opens an account.

In case of late payment, the enterprise must pay an additional 0.05% of the total amount not paid per day and may be forced to comply according to regulations.
