From 2020 to present, many investors in wind power projects in Gia Lai and Kon Tum have built large-scale projects, with a total investment capital of up to thousands of billions of VND.
Districts such as Dak Doa, Chu Prong, Kong Chro, An Khe town (Gia Lai) and Dak Glei, Kon Plong ( Kon Tum) have long sunny hours, high wind speed is a fertile land for developing renewable energy.
However, besides wind power projects in commercial operation, there are still many projects waiting to be granted a power operation license from the Electricity Regulatory Authority, Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Most wind power projects in Gia Lai and Kon Tum have been completed, with the results of acceptance and construction inspection.
The People's Committee of Gia Lai province has also directed functional agencies such as the Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the People's Committees of districts and towns to coordinate with enterprises to overcome all problems and problems that the Government Inspectorate has concluded.

In particular, the main problems are planning problems related to forestry land, conversion of land use purposes for wind power towers that have been built.
In Gia Lai, there are currently 5 wind power projects that have not been granted power operation licenses such as the Cho Long Wind Power Plant project, Yang Trung Wind Power Plant, Ia Pech Wind Power Plant, Mountainous Development Wind Power Plant and the Central Highlands Processing Wind Power Plant project.
In Kon Tum, the Tan Tan Nhat wind power project invested by Tan Tan Nhat Joint Stock Company, with a total investment of VND1,890,200 million, is also waiting for a license from the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The People's Committees of Gia Lai and Kon Tum provinces have proposed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade direct specialized agencies to promptly inspect the acceptance and granting of power operation licenses for wind power projects.
Only when obtaining an electricity operation license will the enterprise be eligible to work with Vietnam Electricity Group to negotiate and sign a power purchase contract.
For the past 3 - 4 years, wind power projects have been stalled, causing investors to struggle to pay bank loan interest, damaged factory equipment and vehicles have to be maintained and repaired, causing heavy economic damage.
Gia Lai province has 16 wind power projects with an investment capital of over VND43,197 billion. According to calculations, 1MW of wind power contributes 550 million VND/year to the budget.
If 1,242MW of wind power is fully operated commercially, it will contribute about 680 billion VND, accounting for over 13% of the total budget revenue of Gia Lai province.
