Dak Nong is a land with great potential for renewable energy development. The whole province has 6 wind power projects with a total capacity of 430MW and a total investment capital of up to 15,000 billion VND.
However, currently only Dak Hoa Wind Power Project (capacity 50MW) will be put into commercial operation from November 2021.
Asia Dak Song 1 wind power project has not been built yet; the remaining 4 projects have not been completed because they were "whistled".
The biggest problem is the projects included in the bauxite exploration plan, approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 167/2007/QD-TTg dated November 1, 2007.
The above situation has caused a series of wind power towers to lie dormant, unable to invest in construction or operate to generate electricity.
Mr. Ho Van Muoi - Chairman of Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee said that renewable energy projects not only bring large revenue to the locality but also provide an important source of electricity for the bauxite industry.
To thoroughly resolve the problems, the province has reported to the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and central ministries and branches.
“Currently, Dak Nong province has 118 wind power towers that have not been completed. The total area of these wind power towers is very small, less than 4 hectares of land. The bauxite in this area, if not exploited, is still there and has not disappeared,” said Mr. Ho Van Muoi.
According to Dak Nong province’s leaders, solar power is very efficient and has great significance for the province. Only when the obstacles are resolved can the projects bring out their true value.
The conclusions from the Central Government have set out the principle of both creating the best conditions for wind power projects to come into operation and ensuring strict handling of violations according to legal regulations.
Every day that projects are stalled is a day of wasted local potential. If the problems were resolved promptly, the projects would bring in huge revenues and contribute to the socio-economic development of the whole province.
