In the afternoon of 8.5, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Finance, Minister Nguyen Van Thang had a meeting and worked with the US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc E. Knapper. Attending the meeting, there were also representatives of functional units of the Ministry of Finance such as Tax Department, Customs Department, Department of Debt Management and Foreign Economic, Foreign Investment Department, Department of Tax Policy, Department of State Business Development.
At the meeting, Minister Nguyen Van Thang thanked the US Ambassador and the US Embassy in Vietnam for their active support in the past time. The Minister emphasized that this is clear evidence that the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the United States is developing more and more substantially and effectively.
According to Minister Nguyen Van Thang, implementing the assignment of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Finance will lead the Vietnamese working delegation to attend the SelectUSA 2025 Investment Summit, taking place from May 11-14 in Maryland, USA.
This is one of the key activities to promote Vietnam -US -US -American investment and investment. The Minister said that the Vietnamese delegation attended this time with the largest number of registration ever, showing the growing interest of Vietnamese businesses to the US investment environment and the desire to increase in this market.
In addition to chairing activities at the SelectUSA Conference, the Ministry of Finance delegation will work with US authorities and leading associations and enterprises in the fields of semiconductors, high technology, startups, banking, green finance and digital.
Through these activities, the Vietnamese Government hopes to convey the message of determination to promote bilateral economic and trade relations in a fair, mutually beneficial and sustainable direction, in the context that the world is witnessing many profound changes in policies and the global trade environment.
US Ambassador Marc E. Knapper expressed his joy at knowing that the Vietnamese delegation has a very impressive number of delegates attending the SelectUSA 2025 Conference. He commented that the attention and enthusiasm of the Vietnamese side shows an important moment in bilateral relations, when in 2025, the two countries will celebrate the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations. This will be a great opportunity for both sides to seek ways to further deepen economic and investment relations.
In recent times, Vietnam and the United States have witnessed remarkable developments in bilateral relations, especially since the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2023. Minister Nguyen Van Thang expressed his confidence that, with the central role of Ambassador Marc E. Knapper and the close coordination of all parties, the two countries will continue to foster an effective, substantive and long-term future of economic and trade cooperation.
