On December 31st, at the headquarters of SJC Company on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai street, the number of customers coming to transact was quite bustling. Security forces continuously guided customers. Most customers who came here wanted to buy gold rings to store. Customers who wanted to buy gold bars had to register online first through the company's website to limit jostling and ensure the management of the number of transactions.

Many people said that they take advantage of the end of the year to buy gold with the expectation that prices will continue to increase during the Tet holiday. Ms. Thai Thi Huong (resident of Phu Dinh ward) said that she has registered to buy gold bars online but many times transactions have run out. Not wanting to miss the end of the year, she decided to come to the store early to switch to buying gold rings.
I ordered online three times and both times said it was sold out. Finally, I had to come here to get the number, waiting to buy gold rings for sure. Prices may still fluctuate near Tet, so I want to buy soon," Ms. Huong shared.
According to records, the average waiting time for customers to enter gold ring transactions is about 2-3 hours, depending on the time. Some young customers choose to buy small quantities for the purpose of saving or for good luck at the end of the year.
At about 10:30 am on December 31, SJC Company announced that to serve the year-end inventory work, on the afternoon of December 31, 2025, SJC gold bar and gold ring trading centers in Ho Chi Minh City will temporarily stop trading. The jewelry counter will still operate normally. The reopening time is January 5, 2026.
According to independent financial expert Phan Dung Khanh, gold is an asset that does not generate direct revenue. While depositing savings with interest rates and buying shares with dividends, investing in gold does not bring regular cash flow; profits only appear when selling when prices rise. Therefore, if gold prices remain stable, investors will lose opportunity costs compared to other profit channels.
Mr. Khanh also warned that when gold prices hit a peak and then reverse, the risk will be very high. Even if domestic and world prices narrow the difference, selling points still maintain the gap between buying and selling prices, and this gap often widens sharply when the market fluctuates, making the risk even more inclined towards investors. Gold can be bought more, but absolutely should not borrow to invest.
In fact, many people have borrowed gold and had to repay it with gold when prices increased, leading to heavy losses. Regardless of the income level, investors should only dedicate a small portion of capital to gold and allocate assets reasonably, combining gold, savings deposits and securities. This allocation method helps minimize risks and is still safe even when gold prices are sideways.
