Fining hydropower investor in Lao Cai for not having environmental permit

Lao Cai - Xuan Thien Yen Bai Joint Stock Company was administratively sanctioned for not having an environmental permit for the Khao Mang Thuong hydropower project.

On March 4, information from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lao Cai province, the unit has just issued a decision to sanction Xuan Thien Yen Bai Joint Stock Company for violating regulations on environmental protection at the Khao Mang Thuong hydropower project.

Xuan Thien Yen Bai Joint Stock Company is headquartered in Na De Thang village, Khao Mang commune, with Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh as General Director, legal representative.

Accordingly, Xuan Thien Yen Bai Joint Stock Company was fined for not having an environmental permit for the Khao Mang Thuong hydropower project in Mu Cang Chai, Khao Mang, Lao Chai communes, Lao Cai province.

This is a project that must have an environmental permit according to regulations and is under the licensing authority of the Provincial People's Committee.

The above act violates the provisions of point c, clause 3, Article 14 of Decree 45/2022/ND-CP of the Government on sanctioning administrative violations in the field of environmental protection. Therefore, the enterprise is subject to the main penalty form of a fine of 320 million VND.

Businesses must pay fines at the State Treasury according to regulations. In case of exceeding the deadline and not voluntarily complying, the company will be subject to enforcement. At the same time, each day of late payment of fines will have to pay an additional 0.05% calculated on the total amount not yet paid.
