HÀ ANH CHIẾN |

Dong Nai province will develop a pig herd of about 5 million heads and a poultry herd of 48 million heads by 2030.

On January 7, Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee just issued a plan to develop animal husbandry in the province for the period 2026-2030.

Accordingly, Dong Nai develops livestock in an industrial, high-tech, ecological and circular direction. Prioritizes the development of large-scale concentrated livestock, according to the closed value chain (from livestock, processing, consumption to export), associated with environmental behavior and ensuring biosecurity.

Developing animal husbandry in a green direction, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, associated with the Net Zero commitment.

The province also set a target for the production value growth rate in the period 2026 - 2030 to reach 4-5%/year; By 2030, develop the pig herd to reach about 5 million heads, the poultry herd to 48 million heads, meat of all kinds to reach 1.3 million tons, egg production to reach 2,000 million eggs.

On average, livestock products/person/year reached 622 kg of meat of all kinds, 1,362 eggs.

Forming closed linkage chains in animal husbandry, developing organic farming, disease-free farming, meeting international food safety standards such as: Global G.A.P, ISO 22000, HACCP, BRCGS Halal...

Regarding solutions, Dong Nai continues to attract investment projects to develop livestock in communes in the North and Northwest of Dong Nai province. In which, prioritizing the development of livestock in communes with favorable natural conditions, with advantages in land funds for livestock development; focusing on developing livestock in communes bordering Cambodia, ensuring livestock conditions, in accordance with the regional development strategy and ensuring water security.

Gradually reduce the scale of livestock and poultry flocks in localities with rapid urbanization, agricultural land areas are no longer large and prioritize the development of other fields; Attract large enterprises and corporations capable of investing in the high-tech livestock industry according to the circular economic model.

After the merger, Dong Nai province became the "capital" of livestock production for the whole country. The total pig herd of Dong Nai province only reached more than 4.1 million heads, and the total poultry herd reached 35.9 million heads.
