The People's Committee of Khuc Thua Du commune, Hai Phong city has just issued a Decision approving the 1/500 Detailed Planning Project of Ninh Giang Inland Waterway Port.
According to the decision dated August 14, 2026, the project is planned in Khuc Thua Du commune, Hai Phong city, by Vietnam Maritime Corporation - JSC (VIMC) organizing the planning. The research area is located about 2 km downstream of Hiep bridge, bordered by the Luoc River to the South; bordered by agricultural land and residential land in Cuc Thi and Da Pho villages to the North; bordered by agricultural land and ponds to the East and West.
The project has a total area of 27.07 ha. Of which, land for industrial, handicraft and warehouse production works accounts for 15.08 ha, equivalent to 55.7%; agency and headquarters land 0.27 ha; specialized green tree land 3.25 ha; traffic road and parking lot land 8.02 ha and technical infrastructure works land 0.45 ha.
According to the plan, Ninh Giang Inland Waterway Port is oriented to become a hub for import and export, storage, management and distribution of goods to serve socio-economic development, industrial parks, and industrial clusters in Khuc Thua Du commune and surrounding areas.
The project also aims to optimize the supply chain, reduce logistics costs, support manufacturing businesses to save time, resources and improve goods competitiveness. At the same time, the port is oriented to develop according to a modern, smart and green model.
Regarding functions, the port will perform the receipt and sending of goods transported by containers and other types of goods; gathering containers and goods for transportation to seaports and other locations; inspecting and carrying out customs procedures for import and export goods; loading and unloading goods; collecting and dividing retail goods; temporarily storing import and export goods and containers along with auxiliary services and value-added logistics.
According to the Inland Waterway Infrastructure Plan for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister, by 2030 Ninh Giang Inland Waterway Port has the capacity to receive ships and barges with a tonnage of up to 2,000 tons.
The main construction targets of the project include a maximum height of no more than 3 floors, a combined construction density of no more than 60%. Traffic land accounts for at least 10% of the total area, green trees at least 10% and technical areas at least 1%.
Regarding transport infrastructure, the port is planned with 4 main traffic routes. The area outside the dyke and inside the dyke is connected by a road through Ta Luoc dyke. The internal roads surrounding the warehouse are scaled from 12-32 m, serving transportation and import and export of goods in the project area. The parking lot is arranged with an area of about 3,000 m2, flexibly at the warehouses and areas around the warehouse.
The project has a total water supply demand of about 100 m3/day and night and a wastewater drainage demand of about 90 m3/day and night. Wastewater generated from office areas, repair workshops, container and equipment wash areas, toilets, landfills, warehouses... will be collected at the wastewater treatment station before being discharged into the common drainage network of the area.
