With many improvements in applying ESG (Environment - Social - Governance) initiatives to production and business activities in 2024, Saigon Beer - Alcohol - Beverage Corporation (SABECO) continues to be honored in the Top sustainable development enterprises in Vietnam.

The ranking was announced by the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) on November 29 in Hanoi through the Program for Evaluating and Announcing Sustainable Enterprises in Vietnam (CSI100).

SABECO’s continued recognition in this list is not only a recognition of its relentless efforts in its journey towards sustainable development, but also a reflection of the company’s continuous efforts to improve and develop. This result is also a testament to SABECO’s strong commitment to creating long-term benefits for businesses and partners, while making an important contribution to the overall development of the country.

CSI100 was developed with expert advice from the Central Economic Commission, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. This is considered a comprehensive and detailed criteria system, helping to comprehensively assess the operations of enterprises towards sustainable development. In 2024, the CSI100 program with a structure of 6 parts will be expanded to 153 indicators, an increase of 23 indicators compared to 2023 with the main changes focusing on the environmental field.

SABECO has made strong strides in implementing its environmental action commitments in 2024 when it officially joined the Packaging Recycling Alliance Vietnam (PRO Vietnam) last August, affirming its determination to promote the implementation of extended producer responsibility, promote the company's sustainable development goals and contribute to the country's green growth goals.

Over the years, with the goal of minimizing environmental impact and aiming to achieve net emissions by 2050, SABECO has always focused on solutions to optimize raw materials and energy in production such as using recycled packaging, recovering and reusing water, installing rooftop solar power... Statistics show that in 2024, SABECO successfully reduced the amount of water produced to 2.6 liters/liter of beer compared to 3 liters in 2022, total greenhouse gas emissions to 7.76 kg CO2e/hl compared to 9.18 kgCO2e/hl in 2022. In particular, electricity from solar energy has doubled in the past 2 years when 12 out of 26 factories were installed with rooftop solar power. These initiatives not only improve production efficiency but also contribute to building a sustainable future, where resources are used optimally and business activities are always associated with environmental protection responsibility.

Promoting ESG for a stronger Vietnam

With the vision of creating long-term sustainable value for the business and the Vietnamese community, SABECO has implemented many ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) initiatives in its manufacturing business in recent years. SABECO's ESG efforts focus on three main areas: Responding to climate change, Enhancing the capacity of employees and communities, and Collaborating with stakeholders to create positive impacts, all of which contribute to the socio-economic progress and sustainable future of Vietnam.

With a commitment to responding to climate change and always striving to minimize environmental impacts during production, SABECO has installed rooftop solar power at factories in the system, replaced fossil fuel boilers with biomass fuel from natural sources, helping to significantly reduce carbon emissions, sustainable packaging initiatives and CIP wastewater treatment systems have also been applied, reinforcing environmental responsibility and contributing to the country's green goals.

In particular, the initiative "SABECO Sports Hub - Connecting Vietnamese Spirit" taking place in 36 provinces and cities across the country is the result of successful coordination between SABECO and the Central Youth Union, not only aiming to promote a balanced and active lifestyle, but also opening up a playground for the community to connect through sports activities, cultural and culinary exchanges, to contribute to local development.
