Goods output increased sharply
Taking advantage of going shopping for Tet, Ms. Phan Thi Thanh (living in District 3) chose a few satisfactory Tet gift baskets with prices of less than 200,000 VND/basket.
"This year, I prioritize choosing practical, simple, economical and healthy products. The supermarket also offers cheap Tet gift baskets, from only 99,000 - 300,000 VND/basket, helping to reduce the burden of spending during Tet" - Ms. Thanh shared.
According to Lao Dong newspaper, the Ho Chi Minh City market is becoming more vibrant as the amount of goods coming to the 3 unit markets has increased sharply. Supermarkets and businesses stabilizing the market ensure abundant goods, stable prices, and no shortage of goods. There are even plans to handle the remaining inventory if it is not fully sold.

Mr. Nguyen Van Huay - General Director of Thu Duc Agricultural Market Management and Trading Joint Stock Company, said that the amount of goods entering the market increased from December 22, ensuring enough supply for Tet 2025. From December 22 to 25, an average of about 3,600 tons of goods were imported into the market each day. In particular, from December 26, when people started Tet holiday, purchasing power increased, the amount of goods entering the market reached about 4,500 tons/day and is expected to continue to increase in the days leading up to Tet.
Mr. Truong Chi Thien - General Director of Vinh Thanh Dat Food Company, said that the purchasing power of poultry eggs, especially duck eggs, increased sharply at the end of the year. According to Mr. Thien, the culinary culture of people in the South is often associated with the dish "braised meat with duck eggs", making this item an essential item in every family during Tet.
“Every year we prepare a surplus of goods for Tet because we are a unit participating in price stabilization, so we cannot afford to run out of goods. However, there are years when the amount of goods in reserve is too much and cannot be consumed,” Mr. Thien shared.
Extended opening hours
According to the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, supermarket and convenience store systems have increased their staff and service capacity, avoiding empty shelves or customer congestion during shopping. Supermarket and store systems... plan to open almost throughout Tet, only closing on the first day. Family Mart, GS25, Kingfood Mart... are open throughout Tet.

Regarding purchasing power, Mr. Bui Ta Hoang Vu - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, said that although there was some concern at the beginning of December, purchasing power and the amount of goods coming to the 3 unit markets grew quite well. The Department of Industry and Trade always accompanies businesses, bringing consumers good-priced products, along with promotional programs and price incentives throughout the Tet peak season.
Businesses have also prepared plans to increase production when necessary and organize mobile sales to handle unusual fluctuations and local shortages if any.
A representative of the Satra retail system informed that in the program to serve Tet 2025, the unit organized more than 50 mobile sales points in industrial parks and export processing zones. At the same time, coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation to implement the mobile sales program "Workers' Festival - Charity Market".
In addition, the unit also cooperated with the Red Cross to deploy more than 10 mobile sales points in the city to serve the people.
During the peak days of Tet, retailers also implement programs to reduce prices of pork and poultry eggs to meet consumer demand. Prices of market stabilization products are always maintained at least 5% lower than the average market price of products of the same specifications, types, and quality. The program does not adjust prices up in the month before Tet and the month after Tet.
