Digital transformation from supermarket stalls to B2B platforms
To support traders to keep up with the new trend, the Market Management Board in Ho Chi Minh City has coordinated to organize many training courses, instruct on how to install applications and distribute free accounts.
At Phu Lam ward market, many traders have begun to use online payment and sales applications. Ms. Nguyen Thanh Huong, a trader at the market, shared: "payment via QR code helps customers shop more conveniently, while for us, revenue management is easier and more stable".
According to the Phu Lam Ward Market Management Board, digital transformation not only brings convenience to traders in business activities but also contributes to building a civilized and modern shopping environment. The goal is to aim for the image of traditional markets to become increasingly friendly and professional, thereby helping the grassroots trade to keep pace with the digital economic development process of Ho Chi Minh City.
An Lac ward also launched a B2B e-commerce platform to help local businesses expand their markets and connect globally. Mr. Le Truong Hai Hieu - Party Secretary, Chairman of the People's Council of An Lac Ward said that digital transformation is becoming a core development driver of the economy.
In the 2025-2030 term, the An Lac Ward Party Committee aims to apply digital technology to promote economic growth in the Western region, while becoming an important "gateway" for trade and a transit center for goods and services to spread the impact of Ho Chi Minh City in the new development stage.
The launch of the An Lac ward B2B e-commerce platform is not only a step forward in digital transformation, but also a key tool for local businesses to expand the market, connect global trade and improve competitiveness - Secretary Le Truong Hai Hieu affirmed.
The target of 1 million traders entering the digital journey
According to the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, the unit has coordinated with partners to organize a digital transformation training program for market management boards and small traders in the city. Not only providing practical knowledge, the program also helps students directly experience the livestream sales process on e-commerce platforms, and receive specific instructions from experts on how to operate online stores and deploy online business activities.
With the support of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, the program focuses on implementing for small traders in the city, closely following the local private economic development policy. Based on the achieved results, this model will continue to be replicated nationwide, aiming to support 1 million traders to enter the digital journey.
Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Phuong - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City - said: "Ho Chi Minh City welcomes digital transformation models designed close to reality, highly applicable and accompanied by businesses. For small traders to be able to transform substantially, simple, easy-to-implement, low-cost models are needed but bring specific efficiency, especially in revenue management, capital access and consumer connection".
