At this time, many stores and retailers in Can Tho City are bustling with promotional programs for the Lunar New Year to attract customers.
According to reporters, from essential goods, household appliances to fashion, retailers are launching promotions such as big sales, 30-40% discounts...
According to shop owners, consumers tend to shop early to hunt for bargains and avoid crowds near Tet. Therefore, proactively promoting early is to meet customers' shopping needs.
To serve customers' fashion needs during Tet, Ms. Ngoc Linh's store (Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city) imported 200 fashion products, mainly ao dai and accessories, with a capital expenditure of more than 25 million VND.
"I sell both directly and online, mainly discounting the total bill when customers buy from 500,000 VND. Compared to last year, purchasing power this year is better, customers also shop earlier," said Ms. Linh.
It is known that, also because of fear of losing capital like last year, the owner of this store has reduced the amount of imported goods by 30%. It is expected that after selling out all the goods, Ms. Linh will import more.
For essential goods and necessities at traditional markets in Can Tho City, prices of goods remain stable. In particular, essential goods such as rice and dried goods have increased slightly compared to 1 month ago.
According to records, at Ba Bo market, Tan An..., a variety of items are sold, some vegetables have slightly decreased in price by 3,000 - 5,000 VND/kg, grade 1 beef tenderloin has a price of 280,000 - 320,000 VND/kg, fruits have a price of 10,000 - 60,000 VND/kg... In particular, rice has an increase in price of about 500 - 2,000 VND/kg.
Thanks to the variety of goods and stable prices, going to the market these days has helped Ms. Nguyen Kim Mai (a garment company worker in Can Tho City) feel less burdened with her expenses.
"I see that prices are quite stable, meat, fish, and vegetables have decreased by 5,000 - 10,000 VND/kg. I just hope that from now until Tet, goods will be stable so that I don't have to struggle to save money," said Ms. Mai.
Previously, the People's Committee of Can Tho City issued a decision on promulgating a program to stabilize the market of essential goods and promote trade activities in 2024 and Lunar New Year 2025 in the city.
