On the afternoon of June 30, the People's Committee of Bac Giang province held a ceremony to award the Decision approving the investment policy and approving the investor and the Investment Registration Certificate for a number of investment projects in the province.
At the ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Finance Vu Van Cuong announced the Decision approving the investment policy and approving the investor for:
1. The Dong Son Seaport project is invested by Lach Huyen Port Investment Joint Stock Company with a land use area of about 17.17 hectares, with a total investment capital of more than 1,151 billion VND;
2. The Sen Ho Seaport project is invested by Nam Ha Noi Infrastructure and Urban Development Joint Stock Company with a land use area of nearly 200 hectares and a total investment of nearly 700 billion VND.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Van Thinh emphasized that from July 1, 2025, Bac Giang and Bac Ninh provinces will merge to form the new Bac Ninh province - a new administrative-economic entity of larger stature, with a larger population size, economy and more open development space, starting a new chapter - a new journey for the people and the business community.
After the merger, Bac Ninh province will belong to the Northern key economic region, the northeastern gateway of Hanoi Capital, on the large economic corridor Lang Son - Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City along with the important cross-Asian corridor from Nam Ninh to Singapore.
Mr. Pham Van Thinh emphasized that the projects awarded the Decision and Certificate are very important in the industrial - service development strategy of Bac Giang province as well as the (new) Bac Ninh province.
In order for projects to be effectively implemented soon, maximizing their value in contributing to the socio-economic development of the province, he suggested that relevant departments and branches continue to guide and support investors to complete procedures after approving policies, ensuring compliance with legal regulations, and shortening project implementation time.
The new Bac Ninh province (after merging Bac Ninh and Bac Giang) has a natural area of 4,718.6 km2, a population of 3,619,433 people with 99 communes and wards, starting to operate from tomorrow (July 1).
The newly established Bac Ninh province borders Hung Yen, Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen provinces, Hai Phong city and Hanoi city.
The new Bac Ninh province has the 5th largest economic scale (GRDP) in the country, after the localities: Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Hai Phong and Dong Nai.
