In response to the need to shift to a group of foods rich in protein due to increased prices of vegetables, the Saigon Co.op supermarket system said that it is simultaneously implementing the meat Festival with a rotation of 15-20% incentives for pork, chicken, and beef from major suppliers. In addition to fresh meat, alternative items such as eggs, mushrooms, fruits, seafood and seafood are also reduced by 30%, along with many "buy 1 get 1" programs to help consumers easily balance their menu while still saving costs.
At other supermarket systems such as Lotte, MM Mega Market, Go!... also implemented deep discount programs for fresh produce to share spending pressure with people.
Regarding the supply of poultry eggs - an item that many families are increasing to buy, Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Phuong - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, said that Ba Huan, Vinh Thanh Dat and Saigon Co.op are currently participating in the stabilization program with chicken eggs and duck eggs.
He added: "Currently, egg products are at a high price stage due to high demand, especially for export to Cambodia. However, there are many businesses waiting to participate in the program. If there is any problem, a replacement source will be provided immediately".
To stabilize the market and ensure supply at the end of the year and the Lunar New Year, the Department of Industry and Trade has implemented three groups of solutions including coordinating goods sources between units, maintaining a price stabilization program, and tightening traffic control to prevent hoarding and unreasonable price increases.
At the same time, the Department continues to closely monitor the weather, output and price fluctuations to promptly regulate and ensure enough goods to serve people's needs.
