Ho Chi Minh City tightens supply of goods during Tet

HẠ MÂY |

Tet is the peak shopping season, the amount of goods coming to Ho Chi Minh City increases sharply. Therefore, the control of goods quality and sources is tightened.

According to Lao Dong, purchasing power in Ho Chi Minh City is increasing, focusing on fresh food, fruits, vegetables, etc. Consumers also choose products that are good for health, have a clear origin, and ensure food safety.

"When shopping, I will prioritize choosing food from domestic brands with clear origins. Especially vegetables, meat, fish... must be fresh, have an expiry date, and a clear supplier address" - Ms. Le Thi Anh (living in District 3) said.

Retail systems also strengthen food safety inspections to ensure product quality during peak shopping periods.

Saigon Trading Corporation said that during Tet, the unit will focus on checking popular consumer goods such as meat, meat products, eggs, seafood, vegetables, fruits, cakes, jams, etc.

The company's retail systems always review food safety and hygiene issues. In addition to the supplier's commitment, the company also randomly selects samples for testing. If there is a violation, the supplier will be required to explain and withdraw the product from the system, and will be handled according to regulations.

"We try not to let substandard products into the system and are committed to ensuring public health, especially at the end of the year and during Tet," emphasized Mr. Nguyen Tuan, Deputy General Director of Saigon Trading Corporation.

A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Trade Cooperatives said that products for Tet such as cakes, jams, candies, ham, meat, poultry, seafood, vegetables, fruits, banh chung and banh tet... go through 3 inspection steps before reaching customers. The inspected indicators include antibiotics in seafood, pesticide residues, microbiological indicators, growth stimulants, borax...

To strengthen inspection and ensure the quality and origin of goods for Tet, the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City has also sent a document to relevant agencies.

The Department requires units to focus on disseminating information about health risks from consuming food of unknown origin, unsanitary conditions, and unverified quality...

Guide consumers to choose safe food, recognize signs of counterfeit, fake, expired goods. Encourage consumers to prioritize purchasing goods with clear origin, products of reputable domestic enterprises.

Distribution systems will increase their operating frequency in the days leading up to Tet. Most points of sale will reopen from the second day of Tet and some systems will operate throughout Tet. The supply of goods to stabilize the market is guaranteed to be continuous and stable. Therefore, people are encouraged to shop wisely and avoid excessive hoarding.

Warn people about spreading false rumors, speculation, hoarding, and unreasonable price increases. At the same time, pay attention to common forms of fraud during Tet such as impersonating promotions. Encourage people to promptly report violations such as trading in counterfeit and poor quality goods.
