On April 13, Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee coordinated with Vina T&T Import-Export Service Trading Co., Ltd. to organize a ceremony to announce the export of the first batch of grapefruit to the Australian market at Kim Thanh Factory (Giao Long commune).
Attending were leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee, along with representatives of businesses, cooperatives and farmers.
According to Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee, in October 2025, the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Australian Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry agreed on technical conditions for imported grapefruit. By April 10, 2026, the procedures will be completed, creating a legal basis for the batch to be officially exported.
Australia is a market with strict quarantine and food safety requirements. The successful export of the first batch of grapefruit is considered an important step forward for local agricultural products, contributing to expanding consumption markets.

The unit implementing the shipment is Vina T&T, with green-skinned pomelo products grown in Vinh Long. The enterprise has invested in standard raw material areas, preliminary processing systems, packaging and quality control according to the chain.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee Chau Van Hoa acknowledged the efforts of businesses and cooperatives in connecting markets and improving product quality.
Currently, the whole country has more than 100,000 hectares of grapefruit cultivation, with an output of nearly 1 million tons per year. With stable quality, Vietnamese grapefruit is expected to continue to expand in high-end markets, increasing value and income for farmers.
