On October 23, the Vietnam Forum on Banking and Finance 2025 (The 10th Vietnam Symposium in Banking and Finance - VSBF 2025) officially opened at the Banking Academy. This event is a milestone of a decade for a prestigious international academic forum, where researchers and experts share knowledge about the future of the global finance and banking industry.
In his opening speech, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Huu Toan - Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the Board of the Banking Academy - said that VSBF has affirmed its position as a place where scientists, practitioners and policy makers share knowledge together.
He expressed his sincere thanks to the partners who have accompanied him over the past ten years, including the Association of Vietnamese Scientists and Experts (AVSE Global), the International Association for the Accroachment of Economics and Finance (ISAFE), the National Science and Technology Development Fund (NAFostED) and international partner universities such as Normandie Business School (France), Swansea University (UK), leonard de Vinci School of Business (France) and Massey University (New Zealand).
Mr. Toan emphasized: "Sticky cooperation with international organizations and a global network of scientists is a valuable resource of knowledge, contributing to enhancing the position of the Banking Academy in the region, while spreading the value of Vietnamese science and education in the international arena".
VSBF 2025 takes place in the context of a profound change in the global financial structure. The expansion of new financial institutions along with non-traditional forms of intermediaries are changing the face of the system, requiring a new management and supervision framework. The rapid development of artificial intelligence, big data and block chain technology is accelerating the process of innovating business models.
Research and discussion at this year's Forum aim to clarify the relationship between corporate governance, financial policy structure and adaptability of emerging economies. At the same time, new approaches to financial stability, banking management capacity and reforming supervision regulations to improve the resilience of the system are also focused on.
Discussing with reporters about the highlights of VSBF 2025, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thi Hoang Anh - Deputy Director in charge of the Board of Directors of the Banking Academy - said that the Forum focused on three main topics:
Impact of Science and Technology: Emphasize the application of technology (especially the 4.0 industrial revolution) in finance - banking, focusing on new products with risks that need to be prevented.
Sustainable Finance (ESG): Focus on assessing the impact of applying environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards on the operations of the banking and financial system.
Development of the New Financial Intermediary: In-depth discussion on the formation and development of non-traditional financial intermediaries, assessing their impact on the stability and sustainability of the global financial system, from the perspective of cooperation or competition.
