Looking back at the 10-year journey since the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics (Brazil), Vietnamese shooting has achieved many more achievements and one of them is the Gold Medal at ASIAD 19.
Now, the ASIAD competition cycle is about to return. Vietnamese shooting is continuing to aim to protect the medal achievements that shooters will compete in at the upcoming ASIAD 20 in Japan. Vietnamese sports has been approved for the program "Developing key sports to participate in the Olympics and ASIAD in the period 2026 - 2046". In which, shooting is one of the 9 key sports of the program.
After 10 years, shooting still maintains the position of a key sport that Vietnamese Sports can expect the opportunity to compete for medal results in the ASIAD arena and possibly the Olympics (in the future). Generations of veteran shooters such as Hoang Xuan Vinh, Tran Quoc Cuong... have left the shooting stage and switched to coaching work.
The Vietnamese shooting team has and is possessing a young generation of shooters with good expertise, accumulated expertise from competition achievements in Southeast Asia and Asia such as: Trinh Thu Vinh, Nguyen Thuy Trang, Pham Quang Huy, Phi Thanh Thao, Le Thi Mong Tuyen......
Shooting is a small number of sports with its own characteristics that shooters, the more tournaments they go through, the older they are, still maintain the probability of winning medals in important arenas. That view may not be wrong. However, the youth and level of many shooters such as Trinh Thu Vinh, Pham Quang Huy are still enough to create opportunities to compete for achievements for Vietnamese shooting.
10 years is not a short time. At this time, Vietnamese Sports fans are anxiously waiting for the moment to burst into emotions at ASIAD 20 with the shooters of the Vietnamese shooting team as they did with Hoang Xuan Vinh in 2016.
