The coaching staff of the Vietnamese athletics team registered 7 athletes, including Ha Thi Thuy Hang, to compete in the 2026 Asian Championship (for the jump event).
The program of this year's tournament takes place in Chongqing city (China) from May 18 to May 19. On May 16, the Vietnamese athletics team departed for China.
The participating players include Ha Thi Thuy Hang, Nguyen Thi Huong, Tran Thi Loan, Bui Thi Kim Anh, Duong Thi Thao, Vu Thi Ngoc Ha and Ho Trong Manh Hung.
Ha Thi Thuy Hang is the athlete who won a gold medal in women's long jump at the 2026 Asian Beach Games held in China in May. Therefore, this female athlete is expected to have high results at the 2026 Asian Championships (for the jump event).
For the first time, the Asian Athletics Federation organizes a championship for jumping events including high jump, long jump, and triple jump.
In addition to Thuy Hang, the Vietnamese athletics team has player Bui Thi Kim Anh who won a gold medal in women's high jump at SEA Games 33. Player Ho Trong Manh Hung won a gold medal in men's triple jump at SEA Games 33 and Tran Thi Loan is the champion of women's long jump at SEA Games 33.
In May, the Vietnamese athletics team participated in the 2026 Singapore Open Athletics Championships and focused on competing in the short distance events of 100m and 200m.
