In 2023 in Hangzhou (China), the Vietnamese women's volleyball team came to ASIAD 19 with a mindset that did not attract much attention from opponents. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team surprised all opponents by reaching the semi-finals and then winning 4th place overall at ASIAD 19.
At that time, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team spent a 5-month preparation period with many tournaments such as: 2023 Asian Women's Club Championship, SEA Games 32, AVC Challenge Cup 2025, FIVB Challenger Cup 2023, VTV Cup 2023, SEA V.League 2023, 2023 Asian Championship. From such international matches, Vietnamese women's players matured and played sublimely at ASIAD 19.
This year, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his colleagues continue to have 5 months of professional preparation with the Vietnamese women's volleyball team to aim to participate in ASIAD 20 in September 2026 in Japan.
To focus on the most important goal of winning results at ASIAD 20, Vietnamese women's volleyball players will go through many international tournaments including: AVC Cup 2026, VTV Cup 2026, SEA V.League 2026, Asian Championship 2026. Surely, the adjustment will be made through each competition so that when entering ASIAD 20, the player must reach the peak of form.
For the Vietnamese women's volleyball team, the ASIAD tournament is no longer a professional test, but this is a place where we can focus on competing to achieve high results with our form.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet once said that the point he builds for players is not only professional playing style but also to maintain the aspiration that Vietnamese volleyball, if done well, will have the opportunity to compete against high-level teams. There are 5 months left for coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team to believe that the opportunity will be set by themselves and can be decided at ASIAD 20.
