Press accompanies the historical mission of the working class

Since its inception, the Vietnam Revolutionary Press has clearly defined its mission: To become the voice of the working class, a sharp weapon in the struggle for independence and a pioneering driving force in the construction and defense of the Fatherland today.

Tools for enlightening and gathering forces of the working class (1925 - 1945)

The birth of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press is associated with the name and career of leader Nguyen Ai Quoc - Ho Chi Minh, who laid the foundation for both the theory and practice of the unemployed press in Vietnam. On June 21, 1925, Thanh Nien newspaper, founded by the founder, published first in Guangzhou, China, officially gave birth to the Revolutionary Press line.

This is not a coincidence, but a strategic step, meeting the urgent requirements of history: Propagating Marxism-Leninism to Vietnam, preparing ideologically, politically and organizing the birth of a working class political party.

President Ho Chi Minh knows better than anyone the power of journalism. People consider journalism as a front, a weapon of struggle. In the work " Journalism", Cu clearly stated the goal of Thanh Nien newspaper: "Propaganda, encouragement, training, education, and mass organization... are the ways of doing things".

That goal of "making fate" is the historical mission of the working class. Thanh Nien Newspaper and later other newspapers such as Lao Dong, Cong Xuong, Bu Lyem, Co Vong Tinh, Van Ky Nhan Newspaper... became the first channel of information, propaganda, and official theoretical study of the communists of Vietnam.

The content of these newspapers focuses on exposing the crimes of colonialism and feudalism; introducing the fighting examples of the world's infertile class; and most importantly, equipping the working class and the working people of Vietnam with a new worldview and methodology.

The press has helped the Vietnamese working class rise from a spontaneous force to a self-conscious class, clearly recognizing its leadership role and mission of national liberation and class liberation. The press is not only a voice reflecting suffering, but also a beacon for the road, a call to gather forces, preparing for fierce struggles, culminating in the birth of the Communist Party of Vietnam on February 3, 1930".

During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh advised: "For our newspaper writers, the pen is a sharp weapon, the article is a revolutionary newspaper to encourage the masses to unite in fighting, against old and new colonialism, against socialism, national independence, social progress and world peace". This lesson has become a guideline, affirming the shock role of the press in serving the revolutionary cause led by the working class.

Cheering flag in the resistance war and national construction (1945 - 1975)

The success of the August Revolution led to the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, opening a new era for the nation. The Vietnamese working class has shifted from the role of leader in the struggle for power to the role of leader in the resistance war and national construction. Revolutionary press has also entered a new phase, both a tool to protect revolutionary achievements and a driving force to build a new regime.

In the two long-term resistance wars against French colonialism and American control, the press has truly become a gunless front. Newspapers such as Truth, Savior, People's, People's Army, Labor Federation... have closely followed each step of the resistance war.

Journalists are also soldiers. They are present in the most arduous and fierce places, from the Viet Bac battlefield to the Southern battlefields, to promptly reflect the will of "determination to die for the Fatherland to live" of our army and people.

The press during this period has successfully completed many important tasks such as widely disseminating the policy of "all-people, comprehensive, proactive, self-reliant resistance" to all classes of people, strengthening the iron and strong trust in the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh.

Articles and examples of "good people, good deeds" about heroes, emulation fighters, workers, and farmers enthusiastically producing support for the front line have become a great source of spiritual encouragement. At the same time, the press is a sharp weapon to fight against distorted arguments and psychological warfare of the enemy, maintaining the ideological position among the people.

President Ho Chi Minh paid special attention to the role of the press in this period. The person affirmed: " Jury officers are also revolutionary soldiers. Pencils and paper are their sharp weapons. This immortal saying has fueled many generations of journalists and soldiers who have not felt sorry for the blood and bones so that the flow of revolutionary information will never stop. Through the press, the voice of the Party and the working class has spread, transforming into a great material power, contributing to the decisive victory of the Great Spring of 1975, unifying the young people.

motivation in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland (1975 to present)

After the country's reunification and the whole country's rise to socialism, the working class continues to play a core leadership role in the cause of reconstruction and national construction. Revolutionary press once again transformed, shouldering new tasks. In particular, since our Party initiated and led the Doi Moi movement (1986), the role of the press has become even more important.

The press has become a trusted forum for the people, an important information channel to help the Party and the State plan and adjust policies and guidelines. It is a pioneer in promoting and encouraging new factors, effective economic models, and vividly reflecting the creative working atmosphere of the working class and people nationwide in the cause of industrialization and modernization.

Moreover, the press has clearly demonstrated its role as a sharp tool for monitoring and social criticism. Many negative, corruption and wasteful cases have been exposed and brought to light by the press, contributing to cleaning up the Party and State apparatus, and strengthening the people's trust. This is the implementation of Uncle Ho's teaching: "Our press is not for a small number of viewers, but to serve the people, to propagate and explain the guidelines and policies of the Party and the Government, therefore there must be mass nature and fighting spirit".

In the context of globalization and extensive international integration, along with the explosion of information technology, Vietnamese press is facing both opportunities and challenges. The struggle on the front of cultural ideology has become more complicated than ever.

Hostile forces are constantly taking advantage of the Internet and social networks to sabotage our revolutionary cause. More than ever, the Revolutionary Press needs to maintain political courage, orient public opinion, protect the Party's ideological foundation, protect the interests of the nation - people and the working class.

After a century of formation and development, it can be affirmed that the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press founded and trained by President Ho Chi Minh has always been a shock force, trusting on the ideological - cultural front, serving the Fatherland and the people. The development of the press is always closely linked and goes hand in hand with the historical mission of the Vietnamese working class.

From a tool to enlighten and gather forces in the night of slavery, to become a flag of encouragement in the great national defense resistance wars, and today is a pioneering driving force in the cause of building and defending the socialist Fatherland.

Vietnamese press needs to constantly innovate, improve professionalism, fighting spirit and humanity, to forever be worthy of being the voice of the Party, the State, socio-political organizations, and a forum of trust of the people.
