Professionals of Vietnamese wrestling all look directly at the reality that Vietnamese wrestlers still have a professional gap compared to many opponents in the Asian arena (from the Asian Championship to ASIAD).
There are two issues raised for Vietnamese wrestling to solve: it is necessary to select a potential force of athletes to develop and it is necessary to have sufficient resources and funding for training to reach depth. Regarding the way of doing things at this time, the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports and the Vietnamese Wrestling Federation are aiming to gradually shape the participation in international tournaments for athletes while boldly hosting international tournaments in the official system of the World Wrestling Federation and the Asian Wrestling Federation to have a position for themselves. Only in this way will Vietnamese wrestling benefit from investment and professional development support from the Asian Federation or the World Federation.
This year, we are hosting five international tournaments in many levels for wrestling, grappling, AMMA (a variant of wrestling competition). Vietnam has been and is organizing the 2026 World Beach Wrestling Championship, the 2026 Asian Youth Wrestling Championship (for U17, U23 age groups). Next, we will be the host of the 2026 Asian U17 Beach Wrestling Championship, the 2026 Asian - Oceania Grappling Championship and the 2026 Asian - Oceania AMMA Championship.
Through the 2026 World Beach wrestling Championships, the 2026 Asian Youth Wrestling Championships, senior representatives of each International Wrestling Federation have come to Vietnam to participate. Accompanying them is a professional department developing high achievements for beach wrestling and indoor wrestling. Vietnamese sports and the Vietnamese wrestling team will certainly take advantage of such opportunities to have more professional sharing and exchange to help develop the long-term most effectively.
Above all, we still aim for the goal of winning medals in the ASIAD arena. Of course, for professionals, the international tournament at home is a prerequisite for Vietnamese wrestling to affirm its position, but to develop for the long term, we still aim for a force of brave athletes who are trained to reach Asian level.
