Sunset on flying sand dunes

HẢI AN |

If it weren't for the deep blue Truong Son mountains turning purple under the overlapping sunset, this scene would surely take us away from geographical reality. It would be the Gobi desert or Rub' al Khali desert or the sandy Sahara region shivering in heat and transforming by wind.

Wind like Phang and sunshine like Rang. A sentence is enough to depict the harshness of this land named Phan Rang, formerly belonging to Ninh Thuan province, now to Khanh Hoa province. The wind here blows in from the ocean, encountering the tail of the Truong Son range, proudly blocking the wind, so it growls and is terribly fierce.

The wind has evaporated water into rods and saw blades, cruelly and persistently, daily rubbing on mountain rocks to erode into millions of grains of sand. Millions of years have passed, and then mountain rocks are still bare, but under the feet are endless dozens, hundreds of sand dunes, proving the resilience of wind and rocks.

This South Central region is not without the scene of mountains and seas meeting, but perhaps, only in this region, that meeting is so fierce. Wind blows, rocks block and then sand rises, everything is dry, dark brown, deeply marked like the tail of an eye or the palm of an elderly Cham person.

On those sand dunes, nothing can survive, forming small deserts nestled in the East Sea and a narrow plain like a goat's gut located at the foot of the Truong Son range. In the past, it was a desolate territory, left to cacti and bushes to occupy. In the hot sand, only sand lizards (tigers) lived.

But then, sand dunes also come to transform. The wild and pristine beauty of sand dunes has moved people's hearts. Oh, it turns out that you don't need to go far to wake up, just sit down here, admire sand flying, sand running, sand shaping, sand transforming, and you can contemplate the impermanence.

Wind is inherently an invisible, supernatural entity. However, thanks to the tiny, mobile sand particles, the true nature of wind is revealed. Sitting on the top of the sand dunes running endlessly in a static state, suddenly the wind rises, immediately surrounded by sand, clinging tightly to the wind, showing the shape of round wind pipes, wide arc-shaped wind wings, as if filmed through imaging medicine.

Windy but very hot. Son Hai sandy area (Son Hai village, Phuoc Dinh commune, Khanh Hoa province) is considered the region with the harshest climate in Ninh Thuan. The weather here is divided into 2 seasons in the year: dry season and rainy season. The rainy season will take place from September to December.

At this time, the freshwater lakes in the desert are full of fresh water, and surrounded by lush green meadows. On these fresh lakes and freshwater lakes are herds of goats and sheep leisurely enjoying the most fertile time of the year.

Goats and sheep also make sandstorms here less lonely, just like dragon fruit trees, grape trees have accompanied cacti for a long time. May grape ripening, December dragon fruit ripening, interspersed between those crops is the Kate Tet of the Cham community.

Son Hai owns a large sand dunes, stretching all the way to Son Hai fishing village, creating an extremely majestic scene. These are hills that are still lost, because in essence they are just sand flying along the deposit. Because of this, the terrain of this region also changes continuously, the stability is only calculated according to the milestone of a few months, sometimes only a few weeks.

Standing here, on the top of the high sand dunes more than ten meters high, the strong wind blowing, sand flying in waves filling all grooves such as footprints, camping holes, tire marks... you can feel the "invasive, landscaping" power of sand. That small grain of sand like the tip of a needle can turn everything into a plain, covering everything under its small shape.

Sand also has the color of the sky, like a human face. Under the moonlight, white sand sparkles like ice crushed from the original ice mountains of the polar region. When the sun rises, that white color turns pale yellow, then gradually darkens into royal yellow, orange yellow, and red yellow according to the sun's cycle of motion.

And here, at sunset, sand has become a miraculously shimmering liquid gold, refracted the last rays of sunshine into mercury, as if it were the magic of a talented goldsmith. That color cannot be described in words, especially when it is placed next to a mysterious deep blue sea of the East Sea.

Sand dunes running close to the coastline create an extraordinarily beautiful scenery, giving the Son Hai sand region a beauty that even greater deserts cannot have. That is the beauty combined by the sea, sky, mountains, and forests that unintentionally come together.

There are also countless miniature lakes formed by underground water veins. Those lakes and puddles have all kinds of strange shapes such as heart shapes, hexagonal shapes, round shapes, oval shapes... and each puddle has a different color depending on the plants growing around and underwater, as well as the geology of rocks, sand, clay. It is necessary to use a color palette to describe the green color of the lakes, from light green, green, dark green, young green, green, jade green...

The underground water source is the mother of the sand region, helping this place have the strong life of grapes, sheep, goats, and humans. In fishing villages located close to the sea, people can still dig wells to get fresh water. It is miraculous that the fresh water source is located next to the sea like that, or thanks to sand dunes, salt water turns into fresh water.

In other lands, the things you should and can leave behind are footprints. But here, footprints will be the first thing to disappear, even when the sunset has not yet faded in your eyes. Another gust of wind, millions of grains of sand fly again, the towel of time covers again, when lifted, everything is pure again.

It's a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit.

It's a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit.

It's a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit.
